9 Kikusaku Members 6 posts 1,125 battles Report post #1 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Dear devs, please change the flooding mechanic! 2% dmg per second with a 1:40 timer is insane and will kill any ship if they had just recently used their damage control ability If you want it to do damage than please add flood compartments which will stop the entire ship from flooding!~ -add flood compartments to ships Generic compartment example DD=4 CA=8 BB=12 -add a soft damage stat that will be slowly repaired AFTER damage control ability is used. (damage control party seals the holes) the ship will passively pump out water -add a list feature which will cause ships to list exposing hull below the water line -Overpenning a shell under the water line can cause flooding Example : Fuso has 12 flood compartments and gets hit by a torpedo, dealing 15k damage. The compartment quickly floods dealing 1/12th total hp in 'soft' damage) the Fuso is now down to 37341 hp and will 57100 - 15000 (torpedo) - 4758 (soft flood damage) The Fuso activates the damage control ability which seals the compartment, and the pumps will slowly drain the water out after approximately 120 seconds the Fuso is back up to 42100 HP if it took 3 torpedoes that do 10k each in 3 different compartments the fuso would look like this 57100 - 30000 - 14274 (flooding) = 12826 Thoughts? improvements? *Edit can I get a Mod to move this over to suggestions? If you are wasting your repair party on one fire at a time rather than saving it for larger problems like flooding, idk what to say to help you there, but its pretty fine atm. 432 Kenjister ∞ Beta Testers 1,821 posts 10,838 battles Report post #8 Posted December 13, 2015 While the flooding mechanic at the moment is rather bland, it does seem to be in a good place. The threat of flooding keeps the timing of the R button important, and allows DDs and CVs to do exploit their opponents mistakes to do massive damage. There's speculation whether or not they do or don't, some people claim that angling your ship a certain way reduces flooding chance. Also to OP: won't happen. Especially that overpenetrating shell causes flooding, apparently it was briefly tested and then scrapped because it's way too OP considering the fire rate compared to most of the torpedoes

Yeah, since 0.5.1. General: Aircraft torpedoes' chance of causing a flooding has been reduced by approximately half Aircraft speed has been slightly increased for air squadron assault mode, and damage caused by aircraft in this mode has been increased as well The damage that a higher tier ship receives from flooding is no longer significantly less than the damage a lower tier ship receives from the same flooding.

I generally survive more if I've escape routes preplanned, and with enough experience fighting DD/CA/CL, you can usually pick up the cues they're throwing torps (steaming toward cover at max steam, showing broadside for 5-8 seconds without firing main guns, and so on). It's also why you time when you use the Damage Control party. In my Aoba, I use it when pretty much out of danger and fire is 12+ seconds left on it. With flooding I'll use DC immediately (5 sec duration is precious) once certain not taking any more hits. I usually let fires burn out on my NM since I can heal that; flooding I'll repair since it cuts my throttle to 1/4 speed.

At least, that's what i've experienced. Edited December 18, 2015 by Aduial
