So... Kitakami.

EU started a contest, rewarding several premium ships per class and tier similar to the win-a-Tirpitz event we're having right now.

Thing is, EU will hand out Kitakami to the person with the highest experience for that class/tier. 

I fundamentally disagree with giving her out in such a limited quantity, leaving alone that she's widely regarded as a bad ship and only sought after by me alone people that specifically have some experience with sailing (alongside) her and are proficient with high tier destroyers... Giving her out to a handful of people which come from several categories that have nothing to do with high tier destroyers is the core reason why she has such a high accidental TK rate and low survival rate. To back this claim up of her being niche, Kitakami is widely being ignored by the Pilot Season Rank 1 players mostly only used in divisions with the specific purpose of ganking someone with other Kitakamis, in part because of her zero-income problem and the fact she's extremely difficult to sail and requires a high level destroyer commander to even survive.

Even though I don't agree that giving her out to the no. 1 contest winner will do her any good especially considering the other 3 rewards given by the event are widely considered better... She is given away at all in EU, whereas here she's given the Mikasa treatment.

 

Long story short, there are approximately 100~200 people in NA that want Kitakami, giving her out as the no. 1 reward for a contest would in the most likely case cause her to end up in the hands of someone that would never sail her. What I'm asking is what would I have to do in order to obtain her? What are you guys going to do with her? 

I'm going to hammer on about this for a very long time.

Had the Kitkat in CBT/OBT, and I reallllllllllllly want her back.

 

Nothing like completely denying the enemy a corridor every minute. Plus now that I have the DD skills (-10% detection, 14% on cruisers I think it is), I can stealth torp with it now.

I would not like the ensuing cross weave of torpedoes the drivers of those ships would do. It was a nightmare in CBT from our own team members and woiuld be even worse now, in my opinion..

The same stuff is happening with Atago, but at a smaller scale because she obviously has less torpedoes. Why? She's being sold. Kitakami was being sold in CBT.

I'm not asking her to be sold again, I'm asking her to be reliably accessible to people that are determined to obtain her, most preferably in the form of a mission chain.

Well WoT has the personal mission chains for a few (quite powerful) tanks.

The same stuff is happening with Atago, but at a smaller scale because she obviously has less torpedoes. Why? She's being sold. Kitakami was being sold in CBT.

This, I bought the Tirpitz and immediately saw I had no business playing her at the time. But, it was a limited time sale....so.

Now if the Kitakami was sold to player who reached say rank ten or something, (which I am not) you could still limit the vessel, make profit, and make sure the people buying it no how to use it.

It would also be a cool reason to play ranked. You want that shiny new boat, earn it son! 

On a side note,  I'd buy the Kitakami if they ever came to NA.

In reality she'd somewhat play like a Shimakaze that's almost always detected.

But yeah, that's the problem with Kitakami, she's hard to play and only people that have experience with her or studied her stats actually want her.

It still doesn't mean that I don't want her. I want her despite of that. She's challenging to play and back in CBT she could deal a devastating amount of damage if sailed right. Considering she's in a better position now than back in CBT. 

She has a 8.8km concealment apex, which means she has about 1.2km stealth torping potential which is a respectable amount considering I can stealth torp with an Atago without the captain skill.

That's why I very rarely take it out. The game by design is a grind game. I wanted to play it, but why would I take out a ship that is guaranteed to cost me money every game and I get no captain XP from? I'd have played it a lot more if it functioned as a normal premium for the duration. But I'm not going to lose money every single game just to test a ship out for them, especially when I can't get the detection down to a reasonable level on it due to it being an event ship and the mods don't work on it for whatever reason(second hand info, but I have no reason to believe I was purposefully lied to).

They should work. The Sea Trials Koenigsberg and Ognevoi both could mount modernization upgrades, I think.

Sea Trail "Event" ships are PR gimmicks, the ship was supposed to hype the second season up.

I'm still a fair bit upset over that entire thing, but whatever. I just want to be able to sail her, even if I lose upwards of 100k per match ;-;

I agree it should work, but kid_n_d put one on his and said he was being detected at the exact same distance. So I wasn't about to burn two million credits to test it myself.

 

It's a shame, because I would have liked to play it more than I have so far.

Kitakami is one of these ships I'd really love to have as well.

 

But if it's only in contests I'll pass.  Given the chance I'll buy it  tho.

I would like to be able to procure the services of the Kitkat again as well.  Once I learned how to use her during CBT I had fun with her, sinking a norcar as they blundered around an island into a 20 torpedo wall was hilarious and extremely satisfying with the salt produced by said NorCar.  watched about 12 hit her but only the ones that did the actual kill damage counted (wanted to make sure i'd get her after all lol).  I do agree with others though she is just as much a danger to her team in the less experienced hands then she is to the reds.  I would like to see some way to regain her of course most of us that enjoyed her after learning her do.  My only qualm is that if it came down to the Tone or Kitkat....i'd probably lean on getting the Tone, providing they're both one time only sales (the type 59 of WoWS).  If only the kitkat was a limited time sale, she'd be the purchase.

Met a Kitakami last night at land of fire, he fired his guns near the G line with no terrain or smoke cover at my div mate (New Orleans). My div mate sunk him in 2 salvos with AP, guy probably didn't get the chance to launch torps, we were surprised he played Kitakami in such a wrong way.

I really never want to see it again save for the top 3 DD players or something. It's a tkers wet dream and it really doesn't belong in game. Granted it was fun divisioning 3 kitkatz together to spam ungodly amounts of torpedoes but there was a reason it had more tks than any other ship.

Part of the issue was that she was available to everyone that had the coin.
