Not posting stats again, but a Kiev is pretty much a t8.  It might even be as good as the t9, less torps  but smaller target.

Kiev and Myoko were fine if played right, the Nagato was...ok. But if you brought a Colorado or Pensacola or the Mahan you were handicapping the team right off the bat.

Nagato and Myoko are the tier VII stars of the IJN line. Mahan is that of the US line.

Depends on which ship. I wouldn't mind trying my new orleans but the HP it gives up might really hurt the team plus I dont have it all upgraded yet. I run my myoko though no problem.

Used the Colorado for a bit. Even made it up to 6 then got stomped back 10. Personally I had no problem fighting tier 8's, but that's more to do with my experience in fighting higher tiers. Then I took my Sims, and despite the hate it received for the nerf I have really enjoyed it and doing very well. Played 16 games  yesterday and scored top in all but 3 of those. I would choose the Sims over the Benson any day. More range, better mobility, and faster turrets.

 

Did I mention the Colorado was stock and brand new when I started ranked then as I upgraded it I started losing. I could have unlocked the NC be now. ..

None of the rest of the tier 7 USN line is that good.  But DD captains don't seem to have much respect for Mahan.

This. More health, stronger torps and more stealth. Just better compared to Mahan. Mahan is a good ship tho

Honestly, any tier 7 or 8 is perfectly fine.  What it comes down to is individual skill with the ship you're bringing.  There's a guy out there who could make a stock Yorck carry teams in ranked, and it's not a fantastic ship.

Yes, you can drag any ship to victory, the differences in them aren't so vast that skill couldn't make them up. That said, bringing a US CA or Colorado into ranked is not helping your odds. An Atlanta is plain stacking the deck against yourself.

Anyways, I had an Atago on my team that unloaded Torps in to a Friendly Mogomi at point blank and had the audacity to blame the Mogomi. And this guy was launching from the back of not 1, not 2 ,but 4 friendly ships moving in to North B point.. Both tier 7 BBs are a bad idea. They simply cannot effectively fight a tier 8 that knows what it's doing.

 

Edit: I'm saying this from experience. I just point nose at them and it's like being Yamato vs Montana. They can't hurt you.

I'd actually argue it's now good. It has the good smoke. It no longer gives up the 5th gun on the hull upgrade. It's torpedoes are now decent as well. In ranked it is a match for any of the other DDs in a close quarters fight, and though it's stealth is not great, it's still better than Kiev and honestly it's pretty rare that DD concealment does more than give a half second or so of reaction time to the stealthier one (except Kiev) when it comes to DD vs DD encounters.

 

I played to Benson prior to the big buffs, though I did have the smoke. It sucked [edited]for sure, but now it's just fine.

I personally consider the Myoko a T8, it's actually better than the fully upgraded Mogami if both are using the 8" guns
