With this BB/DD sale going on I'm thinking about dropping CAs, yeah I know "You got to ibuki to quit now! And then go down in tiers!", but I'm just not enjoying my CAs at all  anymore they've become more of a frustration than fun in the past month or so to the point that every time I go out in my ibuki I hesitate to even hit the battle button.

*Sigh* If I sell ibuki and keep mogami I can get kongou/fuso the T6 russian DD and nagato it's just....I spent so much time grinding up to T9 am I really gonna quit now. :sceptic:

Damn it I'm so torn. :(

Word of advice, never sell things until you're finished grinding them.  It might sound good at the moment, but in a couple weeks or months when you want to go back you'll have to make millions of credits back to buy and outfit it again.

KEEP it... it might be cheaper in the long run to get some gold, buy extra slots..... I may or may not regret selling a few things... Izukazi and Clemson for example...so I might get them back... part of me misses those tiers, but grinding is becoming addicting (I want the AMAGI and NC, and NO and Myoko-mogami) so I kind of see where you are going with this, but don't sell it

Considering the upgrades on T9 makes them more expensive than T10.

Agreed. You never know when they buff a line or change the meta.

Also @ that grinding statement; PSO1 made me love grinding, that and I can't help but just want to make people upset with Shimakaze.

As for WGNA suddenly pushing destroyers and battleboats (moreso destroyers) is because the destroyer player base is decreasing at an alarming rate (particularly Japanese) where cruisers suddenly have a huge spike even in high tier. It also has to do with battleboats surviving too much compared to other class types so this is basically WGNA trying to even the field by trying to indirectly show people that battleships sink really easily with torpedoes when done right.

Problem being that torpedoes are extremely gimped and not a lot of people fire them right.

I'm only to tier 8 now with the North Carolina, but, though it may become necessary later, have managed not to have to sell any ships yet. I have 42 at present and hope to keep collecting. Am I any good with them? I'm not telling...lol

Stats are everywhere!

High level overview
  • Mostly plays cruisers, especially low-tier
  • Extremely rarely uses torpedoes
  • Key vehicle - Phoenix

Would just like to point out you're looking horrible here.  If you actually checked his stats instead of just swinging for the fences, you'd see that he does have the North Carolina and calling him out on playing low-tier cruisers is absolutely pointless and makes you look like an ***.

I too have found my CAs to be frustrating to play. I think it is a combination of the community actually learning. BBs seem to actually have learned to shoot at cruisers that are broadside on. The second thing is, disengaging in the higher tier CAs is harder, not to mention you have to turn around to do that exposing the broadside of your ship for 5-6 seconds.

I've pretty much switched to BBs for the foreseeable future. I played them a lot before, but I just get little satisfaction out of playing my Myoko at the moment, and I hate the cleveland. How am I supposed to hit anything when the shells take that long to hit the target? Well I have the Fuso and the New Mexico, I think I am going to go up the IJN BB line for now, cause I would rather play the Nagato than the Colorado.

To be fair, Danny was kinda taunting everyone to check out his stats.

And it's not like DZ actually posted Danny's stats.  Only posted the link to them.  Frankly, I could have looked them up for myself, if I cared ... which I don't.  OTOH, since DZ did post the link and Danny did mildly taunt us, I checked out the link.  (I also checked out the link because I hadn't heard of that particular WoWS stats site before and wanted to see what it looked like.)

I can understand the feeling about CA's, at least some of them.  I found the New Orleans frustrating because its HE rounds just didn't seem to do that much damage vs BBs, at last compared to my Mogami.

As for the Cleveland, yeah, it seems ridiculously difficult to hit anything at over 10+ km.  Which, IMO, is why you need to close to around 10 km or a little less if you want to start doing serious damage ... though I wouldn't suggest just charging the enemy line.  Pick your spots.  But if you find yourself in a CA vs CA short range duel in your Cleveland, switch to AP and blast the living heII out of them.  I just massacred a Myoko in a very short range duel earlier this morning.  Finished him off in like 3 volleys, with IIRC 4 citadels and lots of regular hits. But if you're stuck at long range, just try to spam HE at slow moving BBs is about the best advice I can give you.  And wait for the opportunity to close on a CA when you think you can (relatively safely) force a short range duel.

I've bought my aoba 3 times now.....

I even regret selling my pensa and that is seldom admitted to.

Higher tier ships cost soo much to get it isn't worth selling at all. WG may even have a special game in the future for high tier ships just to get people to play them. It will be the only way to get people interested in them mind you. The mid tier boats come plenty fast enough anyhow. They are easy enough to grind and necessary to just to get the credits you can't get in the higher tiers.

Just Play the German cruiser line. its very satisfying once you get the hang of them. just remember the style of play changes dramatically when you hit t7 but I'm sure thats the same for all Nations.  I gave up the IJN cruisers at the Aoba and didnt bother with the Pensacola, just kept my Cleveland, but ran to t9 on the German line with the Roon and still have The Hipper and Nurnberg. If I ever get tired or too frustrated playing them I'll try the other Nations again.

I do find it hard to get into T9 and up battles. There just dosnt seem to be too many of them compared to T8 and even T6

The Cleveland is a knife fighting monster. The only chance a same tier CL has against one is to stealth torp it or stay at long range and try to out DPM it.  Try not to go one on one

I donno, aside from Fubuki and Shimakaze I've seen dozens more Russian and US destroyers in matches lately.
