I need to do this more often torping DDs in a IJN cruiser, funny as hell, I wonder if german cruisers do it too.

Poor americans :(

It's very hard with German cruisers (low range compared to IJN), and it is more of a last-resort option. I prefer to get nowhere near DDs in my German CAs, if I see them, I'll try to keep about 8k+ away.

But with IJN CAs, torping DDs is fun. I love dumping my quad torps from my Aoba and Atago into smoke that a DD is hiding in, if one of them doesn't hit I'll at least make him run and show himself, and then give him a face-full of 203mm HE.

oh, that's easy.

All you have to be, is a Yorck with a friendly Fubuki in front of you.

Then, shoot your torps into the Fubuki's path, and game is set.

i found the germans CA's are more like a suicidal run trying to torp. dds the Yorck its certain death the kberg and the nberg its more like a yolo run with that rof then sending torps. if i die her I'm taking ur [edited]down with me

In one particular battle a DD showed from behind an island less than .9 km away from me; no warning or indication whatsoever. Of course in a panic he let his torps go and missed me (all of them whewww), I however managed one torp hit which, to my surprise didn't sink him, then - wound up the arty and it was done. So, torps and thier distance can be a game maker or breaker.

Nailed a number of DDs with my Koenigsburg and Nurnberg, from Minekazes to Hatsuharus, with great satisfaction.  While range is short, the cruisers have an amazing arc, and once launched, they are fast, like 64 knots.  They seem to have a short spotting range, and I notice that the destroyers just seem to run into them.  Of particular interest is that the arcs have a near complete forward or backward direction.  I once nailed a destroyer trying to chase me, a flick there, I drop six torps towards his direction, then a flick there, I drop the other six torps.  He ran into them like they were mines.  At Tier 5 and 6, the German cruisers have more range on their torps than US and Soviet destroyers.

So, I have managed to torp my fare share of DD's with my IJN cruisers, but i would say my favorite kill i ever had on a DD was in a DD. i managed to get a ram kill on a Farragut with my Mitsuki, but the best part about it was, i didn't die in the process. ended up getting the die hard meddle with a destroyer...

So...I was trying to torp 2 closing in Myokos @11km with my Agato, hoping them to run into my torp. Guess what, they ends up lading on an enemy fubuki~~~ what a great day.

I was in ognevoi and got TK'd by Myoko .  :P  does that count?    he was firing his torps continous everywhere as he circled .     I did not realize it until I got a torpedo warning and no enemies.   I went wthand just saw the white market  where  I could not evade.

I've killed dd with torps from other DD.   latest was when I was in Ognevoi being charged from behind island  by farragut and it ate my  torp.

I have been spotted when I am near islands when nothing shows on the map, so I will sometimes loose off torps either side of the island just incase a sneaky ship is waiting or coming round to launch.
