Did they change something about the penetration?

I am back from a month break and i couldn't help but notice that the penetration mechanisms are not the same, so i was wondering if they changed anything? I have two exemples, both in my New York:

First was a week ago, i was shooting at a Aoba with AP and was doing barely any damage to it even if i was hitting it multiple times and from a 7km range.

The second example is from today, i was facing a New Mexico, shooting with AP, and I didn't penetrate him, even if i hitted him in the side and the front from point blank range.

There's several threads about the AP issue. Run some searches. The last few patches fixed a bug in the way citadels and underwater penetrations worked.

It's not surprising you failed to pen a New Mexico at point blank range. Their armor layout is good.

They fixed the bug where shells didn't travel properly underwater.

1. They did fix a certain citadel bug where AP shells that bounced off the roof of the armored citadel and continued out through the other side were counted as citadel penetrations.

2. You may have been bouncing off his armor if he was angled well enough.

It's not "stopping 14 inch shells at point blank range from the side" good, which is what OP was claiming. That NM must have been angled very well to bounce those, or the OP wasn't hitting the NM where he says he was. Hence why I suggested a replay.

Sorry i cannot provide a replay.... However i can believe it was from a bounce because he was turning his shipmaround, so it might have been a lucky bounce.

If he was turning, does that mean you hit his side at a sharp angle? That's would explain the bounce. Almost nothing can pen an angled BB citadel unless you somehow hit a flat portion of it.

penetrations got much easier nowadays and it completely killed cruisers

Do you ever not complain about cruisers being squishy?

It's all they know how to do.

I primarily use cruisers too but I'm just adapting my playstyle and staying closer to BBs, or hunting cruisers/destroyers far away from the battleships. BAK only knows how to complain.
