So, we all mostly know by now, that at some point the current BB lines will be splitting, with more ships being added for our playing delight. We all have our ships that we want the most, and so do I, but I was wondering about that lately.... :hmm:

The ship I want the most in this game which I do think they will add when the line splits, is the Pennsylvania class BB (not the Arizona obviously), but what tier do you think it would be best at? I just honestly want to hear what your guy's ideas are for if/when that ship gets added.

I'm thinking either tier V or VI, given that the New Mexico is pretty damn close to what the Pennsylvania class is, ie pretty much the same turrets and a very similar hull design.

So what do you guys think? What tier should she be at? What other USN BBs do you guys want?

Let the discussion, commence!   :red_button:

Probably gonna say 6 since like you said, her capabilities were equal to the New Mexico.

Tier VI.  The New Mexico should be given performance characteristics indicative of her turbo-electric drive to differentiate her from Pennsylvania, i.e. better acceleration.

If she looks anything like this

Then I think they'd be pretty different from each other. I love those sexy tri-pod masts. :)

Both ships have roughly the same protection, the same speed, similar dimensions and similar AA load-outs. Pennsylvania's guns are pretty much just straight-up worse in terms of trajectory, penetration and velocity, so that would have to be balanced out somehow.

She would either need better accuracy, range (unlikely, both ships FCS is roughly at the same height), better HP (also unlikely, she weighs slightly less than New Mexico) a quicker primary reload or better AA from Pennsylvania's top hull (which is even more unlikely, considering that's tier 9 material).

The difficulty is balancing a ship that's literally an improved version of last years model against the old one, without making the old one better than the new one.

You could just in theory give them nearly identical stats to balance it all out. Maybe just give the Pennsylvania ever so slightly better AA or range maybe? I mean, even if she had the exact same stats as the NM with no difference at all, I'd still play the Pennsylvania just because I like that class better.

And for those sexy tri-pod masts. :hiding:

Although, maybe they could make her unique in the sense that she could have 6 scout planes on her final hull, and be able to launch two at a time.(to simulate the fact she has two catapults. One on her stern and the other on her rear turret) There wouldn't be any real advantage with that, other than ships and CV planes would have to shoot down one extra scout plane, which isn't really terribly hard to begin with. Just an idea anyway. :)
