No, they really shouldn't. As it is, a shell/torpedo or its blast radius has to sit a magazine to cause a detonation. Allowing fires to also detonate things although realistic would be bad for gameplay.

Imagine the cry of every one. You would see a massive uptick in the use of HE across all ship classes. Cruisers would probably whine the worst, and think of all the DDs who already blow up a lot, and now that fire they get after repairing would screw them over more. Yea, I am sure that would make for a great game mechanic.....

 

 

Also, if people haven't learned yet that torpedoes is the way to detonate the Trip, then now they know.
