Society is losing their collective freaking minds man. People are so weak minded, pampered and poisoned by political correctness that the first time they hear something they dont like, or find out they are a failure and dont get a participation trophy for finishing last, they commit suicide or go shoot up a school, a church or something. No balls... society has no balls. Except for maybe Putin and Russia. Still uncertain if testicular fortitude or just batsh1t crazy with those guys. No multiple meanings, subtleties, suggestions, analogies etc.? You just see one meaning to words presented to you? Honest question here, something I have been curious about for a while now. I learned to read before I started school and started a year early and college level reading at 5th grade used to read a lot, everything I could find. Just really wondering now, from those responses above. I realize the world is different now and people like pictures instead of complicated words and video's instead of articles. I hate that trend personally. My friend was telling me about his daughter navigating the cell phone just via pictures without learning words playing games etc. and we were discussing how disturbing the concept was. Technology surpasses reality.. Granted when I was growing up I did not read as much as you, I did not surround myself with tech (not much though in the 70's lol.. Atari 2400) but I did take things apart and fix them... I played outside everyday, i had friends... not on a LIST!!! But on my BLOCK!! society was better... less stress, no school shootings, kids LISTENED to their parents. Things were so much different back then.... As for 'political correctness', I remember a 'joke' told me by my grandmother (I am 70 yrs old now): Poem Found On A Gravestone - As I am now so you shall be Prepare for death and follow me. We only did it back then because we had no other way to do what needed to be done. If there's a need, there'll be a draft, 18 year olds will be sent into harm's way again, and the only difference between now and then would be fewer casualties, because technology lets us do more damage with fewer people. Obviously there were a handful of meanings to it, but I just thought it was strange that a societal issue we have was manifested so strongly after that. They will both graduate by 16 and they are already working on their career plans.
