Clemson's double guns are fun and I did well in it, but Nicholas is more visually appealing imo. Plus, Nicholas can be set up for wicked anti air for its tier...

(slightly lower DMG though) What I am finding is that lot more people are investing in DD now. I was in my aurora, and there was 5 DD on other side (4x umikaze) 3 on our side. 3 guys with umikaze divisioned and they ofcourse won. I liked Wickes a lot for tier 3 USDD. and I am beginning to like ognevoi a lot too now. can't wait till i get kiev though. Was in a match earlier this week 14 total DD pretty evenly split tween the 2 sides and none divisioned together. Tier 2 and tier 3 not uncommon anymore to see 10 DD per match. Tier 4-5 regularly see 6-10 per match. Of course also get a few matches tier 5 that are 2-5 DD and 2 BB zero CV, all those cruisers then hurt when they touch me in places everywhere on the map. 1,153 [ARGSY] centarina Members 10,326 posts 16,228 battles Report post #18 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) Hatsu has been tough for me as well. Mutsu was fine. I think it is having slow [edited]torp that can be seen miles off don't help. I think I have like 3% torp hit rate as everyone can dodgea. my captain is not trained yet either and that sucks too. it is all about matchup though. if I get lower matchup, i can get a few hit, if I get lot of tier 8s, oh boy, they can all dodge those torps unless you can work with someone. and CV drivers are really good if they show up. 114 [NDA] Wolff_Punisher Beta Testers 1,097 posts 11,257 battles Report post #19 Posted December 4, 2015 I've found my better matches in the Hatsu when I'm teamed up with a friend of mine we've been able to sail our DD's in a tag team style. Alone I'm not seeing the support or teamwork, so I have issues being even remotely effective. I light up other DD's and the cruisers within 3km seem to ignore them. So for those out there that see me in the Hatsu not in a division, bare with me as I will still try the best I can

Not sure if it's the slower speed, rudder shift, soft module's or what. Just can't figure it out. Tips would be appreciated I think I do okay in mine. What works best for me is using my long range torps and stay out of detection range. If a US or RU DD is in the area they will eat you alive. Do not try to fight other DD's. Get out of there and find somewhere else to play. Teaming up with another DD is always a good idea.

With the change in how experience is earned you can have some really good games and not do a lot of damage, by capping or cap defense.
207 Oberst1 Beta Testers 569 posts 3,165 battles Report post #22 Posted December 4, 2015 Welcome... To the Dark Side Japanese DD's are primarily Torpedo boats, target BB's and CA's and CV's, Also they are the best when it comes to detection concealment so scout in the very beginning. As others have said though, watch for the RU and US DD's their rate of fire with guns will destroy you quickly. That said, do give the RU and US DD's a try, in fact, try playing the RU dd's and practice making Torpedo runs using islands for cover (And I dont mean stopping behind an island and waiting for an enemy to pass by. What I mean is using islands between you and spotted enemy ships as you close range at full speed. It takes watching where the enemy ships are going and planning your route track toward them accordingly.) and really analyzing the map and directions enemy ships are taking, Playing the RU DD's and learning to play them well will make you a better DD player all around. I just came from a great game with my Gnevny Tier 5 Russian Destroyer... 109,000 damage total 34,000 from HE shells 66,000 from torps The rest split between fires and flooding. 7 torpedo hits, with around 80 shell hits 3 ships sunk A New York, Wyoming, and an Isokazi another 4 or 5 ships damaged I got 4 medals Confederate High Caliber 2 Devastating strikes. All the DD's in game are fun boats, they all take skill and play differently. Happy hunting

At that tier, player can pretty much yolo and will still survive. Good for releasing steam after a bad day and just want to relax.

I would strongly suggest moving up to high tiers. If not only for the purpose of improving your BB / CA gameplay. Being able to play the game as a higher tier DD greatly enhances other ships skills. If you really want to know what its like to carry a match, try ranked in Mutsuki... In tier IV down it's really every man for himself. tier V and up an experienced DD captain is the difference maker in a fleet that sails in straight lines and has a tendency to make bad tactical decisions.
