Farragut, gunboat, torpedo boat or Unstoppable DEATHMACHINE?

Anyways, on to the Farragut.

 

This ship has been a fun learning experience for me. I started off as a main BB player but that quickly grew boring, just learn to to angle and lead your shots and you are now better than, easily, half the player base. DD's, on the other hand, are like playing a whole different game. Sometimes it feels you're Big Boss in MG3 sneaking on the front lines waiting for a beautiful neck of an enemy to leave itself open so you can rush in with your knife. Other times, its methodical, planning your entire route, prodding the front lines looking for that gap that pays off in many riches like playing chess with only a small handful of pieces. And most of the time, its like being crushed under a wave of fireballs in about 30 seconds!

 

My first games were painful. The transition from tier 5 to 6 was big enough that it required me to relearn everything I thought I knew about playing DDs. By studying some fellow players movements and reflecting on my own games, I have gotten decent enough.

I would recommend more BB players play DDs. It is an eye opening experience that makes you realize that this game isn't what is historically accurate or that this game has an environment outside of BBs that also need to keep balanced to make the game fun for everyone.

DDs were too drastic for me. So now I just boringly sit lobbing 14" shells and super light balls at stuff.

Capturing base yield that much exp? This is bad, player will progress too fast up the tech tree without having enough experience for high tier.

There is probably flooding damage as well? I'm getting better with Mutsuki, and Kiev, still slightly clueless how to play Nicky well, OT: What would be left for national flavors with new DD lines? Silent Torper, Gun Boat, and Jack of all Trades is what we have right, so what does that leave room for in the new lines?

That is a decent game in the farragut, with 2 DD kills and a cruiser nailed with a torpedo. But I really have to ask how much of that exp was from the double, premium, and flags? It's a bit ridiculous to think that that little damage could net that much exp. Farragut can easily deal 60k in HE dmg and 30k in fire damage in tier 6 games, not including any torpedo damage.

That is a great XP payout, but we don't know how he got that number.  Premium membership?  +50% XP flag?  x2 first win bonus?  All of the above?  Let's not freak out too much at how much XP he was awarded without knowing what modifiers were used to get him there.

4 torp hits + 23 gun hits = 8k exp?!

+ 3 captured bases gave that. Probably first mission of the day as well so double XP.

Soloing caps pays a decent amount of XP but by no means game breaking. Its a combination of 3 solo caps, 3 full healthed DDs sunk, half the health of a Cleve, and resetting caps also pays xp now. All that on my 1.5x daily, +50% xp flag and premium time. boosted my 2500xp game into over 8k

That's a tough one, there is only so many ways to personalize a boat. Unlike tanks, there is only 3 roles you could play: gun boat, torp boat and sneaky boat. Only thing WG could do is just kinda randomly missmatch these attributes into the new lines. I guess you can count AA boats but with so little amount of CVs these days...

 

Its now about quantity sometimes but about quality, I picked my targets carefully so I wouldnt be gibbed two minutes into a match lol

I was not fond of the FairyGuts - had no punch.  And unless they buffed it, you just did really well with it, 10Ton!

 

I have noticed that capping really boosts the XP since the patch.  It makes a huge difference if you cap, or just help in capping.
