337 [-K--] RightYouAreKen Members 1,151 posts 9,220 battles Report post #1 Posted October 26, 2015 I've been reading a lot of threads lately from people who apparently think they are the only inteligent player in the game. All teams are always filled with idiots, and that they are somehow perfect. Well, it aint so. I thought maybe this forum needs a little humble pie. This thread is a place for captains to admit their sins in front of god and the player base at large. I'll start: Occasionally several minutes have gone by in a match when I, driving my BB, after seeing that I set an enemy BB on fire, I realize that I've been firing HE since the start of the match because I forgot to change to AP. Yesterday I was playing a tier X match in my Mogami and it looked like my team was going to dominate. Our team was loaded with all the best ships. I opened my mouth and apologized to the other team for their demise. I then proceeded to get destroyed by a Zao and a Tirpitz, as did a few of our other CAs, and we lost. Serves me right. Sometimes I choose the wrong direction to set sail at the beginning of the match and find myself way far from the action. Sometimes I get tunnel vision and find myself surrounded on all sides by BBs and get citadeled to death trying to retreat. Sometimes I lose track of incoming TBs, and get torped to kingdom come. Sometimes I let loose with a full spread of torps at near max range, only to have a friendly DD surprise me and come in from just off stage right or left. Thankfully I usually don't hit them, but they have to take evasives. Sometimes I get overly confident when top tier and are the first one killed. Any given match I reserve the right to go full potato...and sometimes I do. No rhyme or reason to it. Anyone else got any sins they want to confess and show that nobody is perfect?
64 Mannstien Members 892 posts Report post #2 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) All of the above plus, bringing a friendly BB to a stop while they are maneuvering to avoid Torps because I wasn't paying attention and my little more maneuverable Mogami somehow stops a 45k ton BB and he ends up eating Torps. Running into Islands Running into Icebergs Running into Islands ....Icebergs, anything else besides ships you can run into? Another one which actually wasn't intentional was while protecting a friendly CV in Tirpitz (The Team ran off and left him and I knew there was a Kagero closing) eating all of the Torps he would have had I not been in-between them LOL(Not sure if that's a mistake but it wasn't intentional for sure, I did get a compliment from the CV driver who promptly deleted the DD) Edited October 26, 2015 by Vudee

I will say that in all of my IJN CA and DD games, I've only ever torped a teammate once (a division-mate at that, d'oh). =)I occasionally get tunnel vision, same as everyone else. I am always reminding myself to back off and be aware of the situation around me. I will still occasionally turn away from torpedoes rather than into them. I will sometimes just say "F it" and YOLO charge an enemy team because the game is boring or we need to shake them up somehow. (This works best in Tirpitz, but I find myself doing it in CA's sometimes. D'oh.)I don't always make the best tactical decision for the team to get a win. Sometimes I even type out "Leeeeerooy JJENKINNNSSSS!" in chat before I do it. After being sunk, I often hang around and can't resist becoming the in-chat coach. I'll spectate whichever player seems to be in the thick of it and type out all kinds of unwanted advice. I'm sure everyone wants to choke me out for it. Other than that, I am pretty much perfect. 37 Fusion_1965 Members 244 posts 4,980 battles Report post #13 Posted October 26, 2015 I was just posting in another forum with a similar discussion taking place and I commented on how I NERD RAGE when I have collisions with land masses. Immediately after posting I enter a game and what happens? I crash into an island! What happens next has me puzzled. My first reaction after the collision is to brace for impact, but it seems that nobody noticed my error. Next, I hit full reverse and start backing when I see an enemy cruiser approaching; perhaps I'm not so lucky. "If I'm going to die, I shall die fighting", I think to myself and open fire from this awkward position. Not only did I not meet my end, but RNGESUS took mercy on me and empowered a DEVASTATING STRIKE and FIRST BLOOD!! I can hear James Brown singing, "GOOD GOD, HALLELUJAH!!!" 337 [-K--] RightYouAreKen Members 1,151 posts 9,220 battles Report post #15 Posted October 26, 2015 I forgot about beaching myself! I think that happens to me more often than I'd like to admit, often with devastating results. Sometimes it's because I can't choose which direction I want to go around it and change my mind, and forget how long the rudder takes to reverse. So then I run right into it. I also fire into mountains a bit more than I'd prefer when trying to get that last shot off before sailing around the island I'll probably be crashing into. 2,080 1Sherman Alpha Tester 6,683 posts 3,338 battles Report post #16 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Tunnel visioning when I'm firing my guns. Even bothering to play my Independence when the enemy team have 4 Clevelands, 3 Pensacolas, 2 Atlantas, and a Ryujo with the 3/1/1 loadout 90% of the time. Not paying attention to where my team is when I'm firing my guns. Ripple firing (though this one I've largely fixed). Even bothering to fire torpedoes when (contrary to popular belief) BBs do in fact turn to avoid torpedoes. Wanting to go down the German cruiser line. Beaching myself when I'm firing my guns. I watch how to videos to learn how to be better and not suck. But I will admit to doing some derpy things like; coming around an island into a face full of enemy ship, eating a wave of torps as I come around an island chasing a destroyer, or the worst was dumping a spread of torps from my Marblehead at three enemy cruisers who where steaming around an island only to have a friendly destroyer change course and eat those torps for full damage. Its the only time I've KO'd a friendly and wow did I feel like a noob. Having said that I am the captain of the Sinksalot fleet so don't expect me to stay above the waves for long lol. What ends up happening is my team gets spooked by the smoke, nobody fires a single shell, and I end up sailing around getting shot at because the enemy destroyer spotted me after five minutes. I then find the nearest allied ship and obstruct their retreat with my hull until one of us dies. So I guess my fatal flaw is bitterness.
