I challenge our weaboos to say 5 bad things about the Yamato

A beer challenge came up today. It was posited, on trophy of a beer, that the weaboo crowd in here cannot post 5 failings of the real world Yamato (not the game ship) - ship design, construction or operation.

Not flimsy bull like "she never got to fight" but real, geniune failings.

It was a 3 way argument: one side said its unknown so can't be done, the other said they're known but this crowd can't bring itself to, the third said 5 will be listed inside an hour.

So, If you're a bonafide weaboo show us 5 failings of the Yamato. If you can. Remember, this is important, there are beers riding on it.

1. Yamato and her sister Musashi were thrown too late into the war at too much of an expense. Yamato was actually transporting billions of yen to Okinawa at some base for re-supplying the officers' wallets.

2. Yamato's gun barrels weren't made of the highest quality steel, her accuracy was about as good as an American 16 inch gun.

3. Yamato never had any super complex fire control computers. American warships kinda did, so there's that too.

4. Yamato never had an add-on torpedo bulkhead, hers was built into the hull. This means that the hull kinda also was the bulge... you can see how that turned out. Should've asked the Italians.

5. Too much of a god damn luxury ship, and took too much resources. Basically a waste of money, the whole class. Shinano was worse.

I'd respond to this but I don't identify myself as a weeaboo, so I can't per the rules of the game.

  1. She's big and hard to hide.
  2. She's slow (well, from destroyer viewpoint).
  3. She eats fookin everything.
  4. She doesn't have any torpedoes.
  5. I don't think a smokescreen would conceal her at all.

1. It had a high rate of fuel consumption, making it rather impractical.

2. Ammuntion for the largest guns were expensive and difficult to come by.

3. This might not count but it created a small tidal wave that damged shoreline buildings when it was launched.

You know what, screw the rules, here I go

1: Too damn rare. She's like a 5% drop from Large Ship Construction with ideal recipes.

2: Not significantly better than Kongou or Nagato class to warrant how hard it is to get her and how expensive it is to sortie her/repair her.

3: Speaking of repairs, she takes longer per point of damage to fix than any aircraft carrier. Even a scratch is gonna be like 5 hours.

4: Her generic "good girl" personality doesn't stand out much against much more endearing ships like Kongou or Kiso

5: Her sister Musashi is statistically better (not that it matters since the Kongou and Nagato class can do the job almost as well with much less trouble)

SPECIAL TV EPISODE BONUS ROUND

6: Had a bit part in the TV show, her only role really was to wow the destroyers and shoot down some aircraft

7: Misrepresents the power of the Sanshiki anti-air incendiary shrapnel shell. It was not that good.

8: "Cavalry to the rescue" appearance in the final episode merely exaggerates how terribly written the final episode was

9: Screams "Stop calling me a hotel!" when nobody was calling her a hotel

10: Surprisingly self-centered, she even modeled her personal dock's external lock doors after her own bow

SUPER EVENT DOUBLE BONUS ROUND

11: Is bound to be under-leveled since using her at all is so expensive, making her a liability during events, which is the only time her firepower would ever be more useful than Kongou/Nagato class

12: Due to long repair times, will suck up repair materials, another liability during events, which are for a limited time and thus waiting out her repairs is impractical

13: Her high resupply costs ALSO make her a liability during events

14: If your fleet composition relies on Yamato to hit the boss, she will invariably attack the destroyer first

15: Duplex Radar + Rangefinder is required for Yamato to hit consistently in Combined Fleet, and is nearly impossible to get

Weaboos are people who show an extreme likeness for Japan. Also called Japanophailia or something like that. Probably spelled it incorrectly.

FYI, if you think lovers of any country are inhuman, [edited] out. Let people hold their own beliefs.

1. Pretty god awful turning rate.

2. AA is not great

3. Her bow was significantly weaker than her midship

4. She had an armor-blind-spot between the upper and lower belts

5. She consumed an awful lot of fuel, way too much to maintain financially.

I am not much a weeb as a Japanese culture fan. I know these things have glaring weaknesses, otherwise they wouldn't have been sunk.

Japanese Culture and History are great, but they're not flawless. Japan also did a few awful things in the wars it participated...

Weeaboo

Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it. The term weeaboo is derogatory because it it is used to describe someone who makes the anime community look like a bunch of idiots. You can find these people mixing Japanese into their sentences incorrectly, spamming poi where ever they go, and often alienate themselves from their own society and assimilate into the Japanese culture from which they know little-to-none about; using their so-called anime knowledge as a guide.

1. Was obsolete at launch

2. Waste of money and resources that could have been used on more relevant ships

3 crew was ill trained and failed most of their gunnery drills

4. engines  were ill designed and never made her top predicted speed

5 Wae thrown away in the end on a useless mission thet even had succeeded would not have changed the out come of the war one tiny bit

I think Ten-Go would at least have set back the Americans in their mission to capture Okinawa, and also cause a major loss in morale. Even more so if the US lost a battleship or multiple cruisers.

I said Meriboo, is that indistinguishable?
