0 [RUE] MrBigBopper Beta Testers 2 posts 926 battles Report post #1 Posted October 23, 2015 I love all wargaming products but there is one issue i just can't wrap my head around. Today as I am want to got up early to play some Warships. I played 5 matches, 3 of which had at least 1 team killer. I know I am not alone in this and it affects all of the product lines. What I can't for the life of me understand is why does team damage have to be turned on? Does it really change the game in a negative way if its off? Is it any less enjoyable? I would argue that it would make it even more enjoyable as one wouldn't have to worry about at least one aspect that directly affects the game's outcome. Am I venting? Sure. This behaviour has caused me pause and wonder if I should be supporting a company that would consistently turn a blind eye to the problem and come up with half assed measures to prevent it instead of just taking it out. Mind you before the trolls try and be cute i am not complaining about the game itself. Well except for one setting. Instead I am imploring Wargaming to take this issue that they have the power to control and control it. In online gaming one can't expect people to be adults but you can at least keep people from team killing. In WG's own videos they talk about how much TKers are hated. It's been a cause of contrition forever. Just turn it off already to at least keep the jerks from killing things they aren't supposed to. Is it carebearing? I don't think so. I congratulate any whom get me as a kill. I enjoy a competitive game. I do not enjoy being powerless to stop something that doesn't have to be. End rant. However torps are another matter, they are the main weapon of tkers however if you turn off team damage on them nobody would care where they throw their torps, making the awareness needed to play this game even lower. But been killed by cruisers more then other DD cause they don't pay attention. Honestly the game wouldn't be the same if team damage was turned off though. And I have had my share of mistakes in killing teammates. They need to punish team killers more that's all, but not as much as damage caused accidents happen. I was "team killed" once because some idiot thought one of my torps hit him....even though I was between him and an enemy DD that I was trading torp volleys with. He wielded the profanity's like a wizard with magical tourette's and would listen to a word of my logic as he unleashed salvo after salvo on me til death due us part(I never fired back). Stats cleared my innocence....never the less, a team loss though But in a different team kill situation...I was torp'd because I was in a place I shouldn't have been...my fault, lesson learned. Sadly that player may suffer from of my incompetence as intent is hard for machines to decipher.... Like WG to remove the wankers.......AND IF THEY DON"T.....well......I'll keep playing....it's a game Edited October 24, 2015 by rogerwilco71

It only detracts from play by griefers or by mistake. lets be honest though those of us who don't go out of our way to throw the match or TK have nothing to worry about. I dont think it should pass right through like with torps i think you should still block the shot. I don't know maybe like team dmg is like half or some smaller amount. I still don't see how it would make an arcade style game feel less real or not make you keep your head on swivel. There still is the enemy and all the carrier torps. Just don't have to worry about your own team acting like jerks.

Therefore, I had to alter my tactics and try to out flank the enemy. Having to consider not firing at friendlies adds an element to the game play that I enjoy. If I could just pump the torps out with no concern for friendlies, it wouldn't require as much thought and would therefore be less satisfying...for me, anyway. Team killing does piss me off, though. I can forgive the occasional accidental hit...although I would prefer it if the offender would own the mistake rather than blaming the one he hits, which is what often happens. Intentional TK trolls need to be dealt with, however. I had a game yesterday where a Cleveland immediately fired a salvo into a destroyer next to him and began to speed off. The guy who was hit yelled "wth?!?" as did the rest of us. Troll says he "hates camping destroyer #@%^('s". He then immediately fired another salvo into a second destroyer and turned pink. That destroyer fired back a spread of torpedoes, and troll began yelling about that destroyer firing at him. The battle was on. It appeared that every salvo the troll fired after he turned pink did the same damage to his own ship as it did to the friendly. Seconds later the troll and his DD victim were dead, the chat became a toxic cesspool, and we were down 2 ships one minute into the game. Anyway, has anyone else seen a team killer sustain damage to his own ship when firing at friendlies? That would seem like a potential solution. A certain amount of team damage can be forgiven...accidents happen. After a second or third hit on a friendly the player turns pink. At that point any further team damage also damages his own ship (maybe at x2 rate?). If the friendly fire results in the destruction of the victim, the team killer would also be destroyed, regardless of class (battleship firing on a destroyer, for instance). A team KILL from multiple hits would keep the offender pink for several games, and keep the penalties active. Hitting friendlies with fire should also cost A LOT more silver. I'm not talking about the rubbing of paint, but gun fire or torpedo hits. That would enforce the notion to newbies that your own errant fire will penalize you.
