Now first off, I'd like to say that I'm not a serious player in this game. My stats are very bad and will make any "stat~padder" eye's bleed red. However, I've played enough of this game to get a general feel of just about each ship class. Now if you're still willing to hear me out, I wish to give my two cents about this subject. I've seen a lot of posting about people saying that it's a horrible ship. Most say it's well under performing for its tier level of other CL's. In just about every category that makes a cruiser...well a cruiser. This is sadly all true as I've played up the line to this ship. I didn't use free XP to get here. I will grind a ship (No matter how bad) for a time to get a feel if it's bad or good. I do this cause not everyone is the same and sometimes I can do well in a bad ship that most people hate (Just like a M3 "Lee" in WOT). Now I'll go off in order what most people are complaining about and what I think. Speed/ Maneuverability: It's speed is really bad compared to the other cruisers of it's tier, I mean really bad. It's just barely enough to outrun most battleships at its level. I can deal with this if it could turn but it turns worse than all the other BB's I've played before and it bleeds speed faster than any other ship of its kind I've played. To the point I must say that CV players target me more than BB's cause I'm slow, and even go slower when I try to turn. Armor/Health: It's a tier 4, I didn't expect much from it. Just about every 3-4 hits from a cruiser and even a DD...Will knock out at the least one gun every salvo. Other than that, it's about the same as other cruisers of its tier. Torpedo's: They're there for defense purpose when you get too close or when a enemy comes to close. They do the job just fine. Guns/Artillery: (My biggest problem with this ship) This has to be the biggest factor in which this ship fails the worse out of everything. This is what makes or breaks a cruiser for most people and myself. Some have bigger guns, have a less rate of fire, but do good damage to make up for the loss of r.o.f (Japanese) . Others like the Yanks have good r.o.f, but lack the same amount of damage, but can put a good hurting on anything. Now this thing has a decent number of cannons on it for what it is, but how they perform is totally different. They're horrific compared to the other two cruisers in this game at or 2-6 tier levels. I mean I have more fun in my Albany than I do with this thing and that's saying a lot! The r.o.f is just way to slow for what level she's at. Most DD's actually can out shoot this ship in just a average players hands. With that bad r.o.f, I started thinking it was like the Japanese ships (More damage in a hit than r.o.f) This could not be more untrue. Along with having a bad r.o.f, the guns are so under performing in damage if at all worse than a destroyers gun damage. Add on that including a bad r.o.f, poor damage, add horrific accuracy that will make the tier 3 BB's seem like "The Death Star". Conclusion: This ship is severely underperforming in just about every cruiser category for its tier. I mean really bad Wargaming. If I had to change anything about it, I would fix it's guns so that it has the r.o.f that gives it a chance at its tier level. Or Keep it how it is and swap it out with one of the lower tier ships in the line, but ether like it or not. The ship needs re-balancing badly. I'm curious to see what you all have to say about this ship and your thoughts on this subject. Please forgive me as my English is poor. This is also the first time I've posted a topic on the forums, so if I messed something up, I'm sorry. Now please don't think that I'm just complaining cause I suck at the game. I've added screen shots of both games in my phoenix cruiser showing that I know how to moderately play a cruiser in this game. I wasn't really trying in that match, but I did come out on top and had a good game. The other screenshots are of this ship and I tried really hard. I mean I broke a nut trying to get what I did in the post game stats. All of which during my Karl's match I was stern camping and shooting the most I could at BB's. I was really hoping to have a good, not the best, just good ship and its not the Karlsruhe. This also applies to the two preceding ships in the line. Their guns have atrocious penetration. What was shocking was that the Karlsruhe was unable to penetrate a Phoenix or Omaha at a range under 4km. After that battle I swore off this ship and the German cruiser tree for now. I suggest... get past it... and dont try to play it as a cruiser... play it like a light cruiser made of glass and use THE RANGE>> but just pass and get to the KONI,,, gets a bit better... all the KM have crapo armor... Coming off the tiny gun range of the Kolberg helps keep expectations in check, but of course the competition is usually far better in these battles. Phoenix was only my 4th ship in the game, so I had a rough start with it. I wish Karlsruhe had better AA. Mine has shot at a lot of airplanes and never dropped one yet. Very minimal time investment to get through it in the overall scheme of things. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for WG to buff it before continuing with the line. Even if they could get 20k damage from it, it's still sub par for a T4 cruiser. If it does low damage then you know you have to position yourself to fight against low HP ships and avoid the big boys. One of my highest XP battles consisted almost entirely of duelling with a single destroyer, a handful of pot-shots at a St. Louis, and some very late capping. My favorite battle was another one-on-one with a destroyer where he beached himself manouvering to fire torpedoes and I ran over him, plus more cap points.
