Curious how they are going to balance out the gun ranges between battle ships and smaller types. Your basic destroyer wouldn't ever come close to a battleship unless she'd have a bigger sister close by to attract fire. Any 12 - 16 inch gun is going to destroy a destroyer no matter the tier well before the destroyer is in range.

 

Also, would a Battleship be able to engage multiple ships at the same time. Not too unrealistic to consider that not all turrets could bear at the same time. If you're relatively head on you could engage with the forward turrets and engage something else with the stern ones. Alternatively with Battleships that would have primary weapons and secondary they'd be able to engage a more distant with primary weapons and nearer ones with secondary (also goes into previous thought as secondary armaments on Battleships could still be stronger compared to your basic destroyers).

DD's are fast and nimble so BB's will have a hard time hitting them from long range with their main guns. The devs have stated that it'll take about 4 salvo's to be zeroed in on a target. (the arty-style ellipse only shrinks by actually shooting at a target. Ranging shots so to speak). The biggest thread to a DD (besides a lucky hit) are the secondary guns of a BB. Now cruisers are a whole different threatlevel to a DD.

No, you can only fire in salvo's with your main guns, so one target at a time. If a turrent can't "see" the target it wont fire. Secondary weapons will fire automatically when AA ammo is loaded and (suposedly) semi-auto when AH/HE ammo is loaded. (as in: you select a target and the guns fire automatically)

Don't forget about torps for DDs.  They don't have to get super close to fire at all and still can move at full speed no problem.  Add multiple DDs and well the BB will be in trouble so it won't be that hard to balance.

Yea, torpedo's are massive threats. When you have planes with torps and bombs, shells flying around, and DD's with torps, it's gonna be a bit tough. I can't wait.

Provided you can get good with them. They were dumb fired and a ship on the move could dodge them unless you get in close. Of course vs larger ships that will be the DD's primary weapon. DD's will just have to keep at top speeds and dodge incomming shells to get in to a good torp range.

They want to keep it as real as possible. However the game has to be balanced to make playing smaller ships fun. Just like in WoT a heavy can easily 1 shot a light.. However it is extremely difficult if the light tank is moving! I'd say fun > real. As long as its even.
