Never Give Up, even in a Colorado

Our team got absolutely smashed early on here. I ended up getting an Omaha kill before three DDs started hunting me, chasing me west through our cap point. At one point, it was 4 v 8, and we were almost always behind on capture points and contests.

And... this was the result...

I went ahead and did a 6x play through the first few minutes of play and 2x for the rest because it's a full 20-minute game.

Lessons I learned.

  • On battleships, maximize your damage output. This includes secondaries and both fore and aft turrets. If possible and beneficial, you can engage more than one target at a time.
  • If you are heavily damaged, you should not be attacking. At 3:30, you can watch me split my fore and aft turrets on two different Nagatos, citadeling one and sinking the other for an easy 100-point reversal.
  • Any kills you don't secure, or kills you secure late, can negatively impact the game later. No, this is not condoning kill-stealing. If you actively fire on a target and just so happen to secure a kill, that's fine in my book. If you just wait to get the kill, then you're wasting reload cycles for KD and being a potato.
  • Become familiar with brawling. Spending a lot of time in battleship brawls will save you from torpedoes and unnecessary crits.
  • Expect to get messed up in brawls. Shots will penetrate, things will break, fires will combust. Do not panic, handle your actions carefully.
  • The Colorado seems to have a remarkably high repair rate compared to other battleships. While it may not have as much HP as similarly tiered battleships, it appears to overcome this by being able to repair a significant portion of its health back.

  • Cool 1

Nice results! I plan on getting reacquanted with the Colorado now.  Glad I didn't pull the trigger on selling it after the pre-buff grind.  Only a few games in it since but it did feel like WG turned the corner on this ship...fixed?

Yay for the Colorado!

People hate on the poor thing too much, one of my favorites if not my favorite. :(

As for that game, "Good show!"

Are the rumors and gossip of pinpoint accuracy and obscene durability true?

Accuracy is on par with other battleships. Fewer projectiles, but they're absolutely devastating when they citadel, and 4K for a pen. It feels a lot tankier than the New Mexico given its short and stout layout. Biggest threat is from torpedoes given how wide and slow it is. Damage control seems to be a bit higher. Colorado has 50K HP. Took 60K HP in damage, had 10K HP remaining. Each repair seems to have fixed 10K HP, so I could probably have repaired 10K more with my last repair crew.

Ermm.. What kinda Voodoo did you use at 4:45 ish to gain back health without using your repair party?

It's a replay, so it might have bugged out. If you notice, half of my turrets aren't lined up a lot of the time. It only happens when you're accelerating the game, because honestly, watching 20 minutes of a Colorado driving around is as miserable as it sounds.

Colorados seem to be a lot more tanky lately, especially in regards to soaking up HE.  Their superstructure pool seems to let them immune damage much earlier than used to.  They still catch fire like a who-er in church though.

How do you make your replay to display the score board at the end? Mine always finish without any score screen.

I took a screenshot and edited it in :P
