Best Bang for the Buck in the Premium Shop

Hello all,

I am brand new to the Wargaming.net and World of Warships and have a question about Premium Store purchases.  Now, I realize that there are specials that are run that change the equation and I would like to generally ignore the sales for now.

 

Doubloons, Premium Account time, and ships are available to purchase, and I understand that doubloons can be used to purchase ships that are not available online for purchase.  With the variety where should I put my real world money?

 

Doubloons = most versatile as they can buy ships, Premium Account time, and ships

Premium Account  = Speeds up the grind

Ships = usually come with some doubloons and maybe some silver and of course the ship slot.

 

Do ships cost more, less, or about the same real money if purchased by doubloons?

If you buy a larger pack of Doubloons (like the $50 pack) then the Premium Ships and Premium Account Time is "cheaper" than if bought directly with cash.  If you buy like 10x smaller packs of doubloons then it'd be more expensive.

 

My recommendation:

Buy your Doubloons

Purchase w/ Doubloons 30 days of Premium Time

If you want a Prem. ship, go with the Murmansk w/ Doubloons  (plays like an Omaha)

Use the rest for Free XP and Admirals... or just save it until your Premium Time runs out and buy another 30 days 

 

I only buy 30 days at a time since the 180 day deal isn't that slick to me especially since I anticipate taking breaks from the game.

Two other things doubloons are useful for:

- Buying port slots.

- Removing upgrade modules to put them on other ships.

 

If you just started, you probably haven't unlocked upgrade modules yet.  That's okay.  You'll find some experienced players in the lower tiers that have them, but lower tier ships can't mount as many, and the ones they can don't generally make the ships overpowered in game.

 

Once you get to tier 5 or so, you will have unlocked that feature of the game.  The upgrades are expensive - and my advice is to get them at tier 5.  That way, most of that expense is out of the way by the time you're needing credits to buy tier 6 ships.  The small amount of gold required to demount them from one ship to move them to another is well worth the price so that you don't have to grind for 500K, 1M, 2M or 3M credits to replace them on the next ship in the line.

 

Can confirm Murmansk is a good premium ship to have in your port.

I usually buy the 3000 Doubloons a month to buy my prem time.

 

2500 Doubloons - 30 days prem

500 Doubloons spare.

 

 

Then if i want more doubloons then that i get them.

 

Note: New prem ships are coming out soon, so i would not buy any until they are out. Not all Prem ships can be bought with doubloons.. so DO NOT stockpile 10k doubloons thinking you can purchase every premium ship.

Also, aren't some premium ships only available on the WoWS website, not in game?

If you really want a premium I would suggest the Aurora as that won't throw you to the wolves that inhabit the higher tiers long before you could have leveled that far naturally.

Fyi, the Murmansk IS an Omaha. Exact same ship as a fully upgraded Omaha, but trades the fighter for a scout and gets a faster rudder.
