Lexington DB TB question

It's been an up and down ride with the Lexington so far.  I read in another topic that a good strat to get the most damage is to start off using the DB's to start a fire on a ship.  Then, finish off with TB's after they use up the repair consumable to get the flooding damage.  Using this strat I have gotten quite a number of kills, but I seem to lose more TB's than DB's though.  This is not surprising since if I was a BB driver, I would concentrate on the TB's, but this raises a question.  Should I keep using this strat of going in one at a time where he will concentrate his AA on one squadron or send them both in at the same time?  He would still concentrate on the TB's but with the DB's there as well, maybe they will share a portion of the damage?  What do you guys think?

Keep using that strat for now . At essex you dont really have to because of the damage.

nah because any smart player will auto target your torpedo planes with their AA guns. all this would do is risk the rest of your squads receiving damage and being shot down!:bajan:

I would recommend to instead use your TBs first to set flooding, then use your DBs after the target has activated their repair ability. I use this strategy on my Taiho and it has given fairly good results.

You have a point.  Most players would rather let a fire blaze than keep a flood going.  Also, I've noticed at higher tiers (Mostly at 10's do I see this) that TB's are dropping not right at a target, but at an angle.  I've tried doing this a couple of times, but they usually end up dropping way to close and getting zero damage or the ship turns into my torps and completely misses them.  Is this a new tactic that for some reason only tier 9' and 10's know about?  It's like once you get to tier 10 you're taken aside and told, "Ok, now I know all of you know how to manual drop on a target from a perpendicular angle.....FORGET ABOUT THAT!  I'm going to teach you how to drop like a high tier should!" lol

This maybe old news, but I haven't heard about this way of TB dropping and despite fear of being called a noob or ignorant for not knowing, I'm asking the professionals for help.

Thats how you kill Destroyers. Since most of them can outrun your Tb torpedos you drop following they're path too close to hit but since they are running away from the torps  they get to arm and kill them :D. It takes practice and some dancing but is 100% kill. You can also do this against us bbs 7+ and let them run into the torps to not take too much aa only without dropping too close for them to arm.

TBs are the focus of all AA. I will send my TB out 1st so he can be on the way back when the fighters come. Then they have to decide to kill empty TB or defend BB from inbound DBs. Also, Dont open with match with your TB, he is like the Queen, its dangerous for him to be out too early. towards the mid and end game when AAs are damaged and in cool down and ships are alone he can rock!
