So eventually if you haven't, you run into somebody who will tell you to "f--- off" or die of cancer. Don't try to press legal action like one guy almost did, or go into your bedroom and (ironically) cry to your love.

First, don't respond to them. Don't feed them. When you feed them, it makes them want more. And more is paradise for them. If people do call them out in a negative way, join in them in most cases, as you may recieve the "Did you go crying back to port?" insult. Negative reaction MAY change a minority. The ideal situation however is for everybody to not shove it down and feed, as if they're ignored, they lack a sense of fufillment.

In a nutshell, don't be offended by them. They are just mad at something you did and should never be something you should get mad about. You could also view it as free entertainment, with them providing you some humerous stupidity to laugh at.

In addition, use the report button. WG might take a look at it, though don't trust it. It's a hit or miss that the now completely automated system will handle it.

I provoke them intentionally cause they're funny to listen to, and I also report them. Staying silent would be a waste of someone so hilariously inept.

Their ramblings are Emmy worthy content when judged by somebody with a thick skin.

They make me laugh, especially when yelling about how much we screw things up and that we should play more co-ops before joining the better players, while the person itself is already killed, hahaha ... so funny! :D

You have to remember that at the end of the day, it's just a game...

...One that you've probably put hundreds of dollars into.

Yeah, it's kind of a fact of humanity when amassed in these numbers.  I like to believe (not saying I'm right) it mostly arises out of shame.  Shame is a painful, social emotion that can be seen as resulting from comparison of the one's own actions with their own self's standards.  I would not be surprised to find out that in the sense of our evolution the shame response is likely valuable as the alternative (accepting you are wrong and mistakes happen) is more detrimental to one's chances of reproducing than would be say, destroying the mind's foundation of what it sees as reality and not.

Sorry I got a little deep there, but, 'meh.

I am guilty of lashing out unjustifiably at other players in rage/anger (rooted in fear, humiliation, dishonor) and sometimes pettier reasons than that.  I like to think we ALL have, and do; even though those very same subconscious thought processes might prevent us from admitting so.

Who is this "you" you're referring to?

You can call me anything you like, as long as there's a sliver of a chance it may prevent you from directing your negativity at someone who would then repeat that process.

You see sherman this chat toxicity will be rampant in the sand box game style that WG runs...  Short matches for people with no patients and lack of team atmosphere.  Larger maps with more players and time could change the course of chat a bit but like I said its something you got to deal with in this style of game.  Unless moderators actually moderate their product  or perhaps possitive reinforcement?

How did you know I've spent hundreds on WoT and WoWS combined?

SerBStitution is admitting patients, you should check it out.

Um...I wasn't aware that taking one's health under your care was a team atmosphere inciting thing.  Where the heck was I during that course!?!?!?!?

In all seriousness though, I believe changing the size of the map won't produce the effect you desire.  A lot of it has to do with a feeling of helplessness when sh* get's real (not literally, of course) because we all know there's no easy way (or much time) to organize efforts between 12 players when only 3 can get into the same match together with any certainty.  Retroreflective failsafe; it's a product of our evolution which, again, is why we're so prevalent and those who can make rational sense of their own insecurities are more scarce.

No one forces you to read the on-game chat.

No one forces you to respond.

There are jerks, and rude poorly socialized peeps everywhere..  and when they're in a position where they have ZERO risk of being punched the hell out by someone for being an [edited].. yea well you know, they get the super villain complex "I am UNTOUCHABLE, worships me!".

I've been doing the game on line thing for over 20 years.   It is very old news to me.   You develop a way that's comfortable for you to deal with em.  There are a great many stratagems that work, and quite well.. what I'd really love is an "ignore" feature so that if I find em that rude, I never have to see their mealy mouthed chatter again.

Just remember,if you let them get to you, then they win.  Be better then that.  show em the back of your hand!

I ignore the trolls, but I got infuriated this week by a TK idiot. Told him to stop shooting at me; he did not. The game ended before it could escalate. I reported him, then forgot him. Its the internets; immature idiots are everywhere unfortunately.

I diss them just as good as I do as on the forums and in real life.

Recently, in WoT, I had a child demand that I uninstall the game from my computer.

This was in the first 3 minutes of gameplay...barely anything had happened,

but apparently he didn't like the direction I drove on the map.

(I think he wanted all to go fight in the city area, and since I was a heavy tank...)

But the thing is he persisted through the entire game berating and complaining.

Even after he died early.

And others began to jump on the bandwagon.

I've seen that before...where other "kids" for whatever reason, join in picking on someone.

I think they just get a kick out of acting as if they are "game pros" and can hand out "expert advice".

Maybe they assume some kind of imagined maturity from it...(thats why I assume they are young).

I love the idiots who message me after a match to tell me how much I cost them.

"Its all your fault we lost that match!"

As if the bank will now foreclose on their mortgage because he lost a WoT game. lol

Is he old enough to know what a mortgage is?

..

I do agree with the suggestion to ignore and don't fuel the rage.

I can't say I have demonstrated that ability, but i do agree with the suggestion!

I knew what a mortgage was and how they worked when I was 8, and knew how the stock market worked when I was 10. Disclaimer though, I like to learn on my own before I learn it in school and as I result I preform extremely above average in the areas of history, science, and writing.

I had to add a Tirpitz nut to the black list that would say Rekt in chat every-time he killed a ship.  He PM after the match.

As I stated indirectly earlier in this topic, once I heard a story of a Tirpitz who said he was the greatest player ever because he shot down 3 planes and did 3,366 damage.

I agree.

Ever tried to send a squad of planes to the middle left edge of your screen?

I am going to say it once, It is mostly kids. When I'm on during school hours I don't have those problems. The cussing, rants, accusations, downright obscene behavior starts with the kids after school.. Occasionally an adult with bad upbringing, but mostly kids. The world has gone to crap. I will enjoy my game no matter what and if I read the chat, especially since some is gameplay and strategy, I will ignore unless to type my smiley face.

You can't change it, you can report it some, but for the most part, nothing will happen. IMHO.
