Hello Everyone,

I'm HALF, developer of the new WoWS Community Assistant(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.half.wowsca). I previously built WoT Community Assistant(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp.assist). I have been working a lot the past few weeks to get a base app out for all the community. This is the most basic version of the app and more will be added in the coming weeks. 0.5 gives you the stats and some graphs about your profile, detailed stats about your ship and soon much much more. This is a testing Beta phase so please understand you might crash the app and find other issues. If you notice something or a crash happens, please contact me (info below). I want to make this app stable and work for just about everyone.

I'm hoping to be out of Beta by next week. With that, I am working with Wargaming and my bank account to do a giveaway. From what I hear, some marbleheads might be in the giveaway. I am still trying to figure out how to do the giveaway so if you have any ideas, throw them at me. I think i might get someone an Atlanta, why? Because they're fun.

If you have any questions or issues, either comment on this or email me at wotcommunityassistant@gmail.com.

Let's get technical:

Right now the app is using Wargaming's API that is in test mode so mid of this month, I'm expecting a new release on their API and some things to break. I am going to make sure I am on that and have it fixed quickly. I'm going to be waiting a few days right now to get data from all of you using the app and fix anything that comes up most likely this Saturday with a small patch. I have already found issues myself but nothing game breaking.

What is to come:

So the 0.5.1 patch on Saturday will fix any crashes or issues people run into. This will also include some graphical changes to continue the design work on the app. Main thing is actually make people understand how to add captains. Right now the checkbox is kind of in the middle of nowhere. My trello project management page is below. This will give you an idea of what I have right now for the future. 0.6 will most likely bring the end of the Beta and when I push out the last list on translations will probably be the 1.0 release (Numbers are subject to change). If you have an other ideas for the app, let me know. This is something I would love to grow with all of you and your ideas. With Wargaming pushing forward on the API more and soon Warshipstats.com's information in the app, this should become a great companion app for WoWs.

Enjoy!

Looks great. Not sure when I would use this, maybe showing off to my non-gaming friends :) But at least a bit better than the warshipstats website on a mobile, it's not 100% responsive, so using their API on mobile-first app is very well done.

Is this app available on Apple devices?  Just searched the app store and didn't see it.

I am meeting with a developer for an iOS version tonight. Hopefully we can get an iOS version out soon.

All this for a game with 5k average players.

I think that it's only 5k because of the lack of content. I'm expecting more to come as this game advances. Also this was only 25ish hours of work. Nothing too crazy.

Is this app open source?

Right now it is not. For Android apps, it can be a bit rough to open-source as people will take the code and just reupload it as their own. Why would you want me to do that? Want to help?

I have actually been working with warshipstats website and soon will be using their information on the app.

Did I read that right? Something akin to XVM? Please tell me I'm wrong...

We are looking into something similar yes. Please read on. We are just beginning the research and calculations so it will be a while. A rating system is bound to come and I think we can come up with something better than what WN8 currently is for WoT. I really don't like a single number solution (All of my friends and partners on this disagree with me) and would like to show different numbers on different fields. We have decided that a single overall number will be there but I want to show all of the numbers that go into the equation so you can see where you need to improve. I want to make things clear to every player on what they need to do to improve and stop this freaking "scrub" or "Tomato" talk. A straight comparison between your stats and the average players stats from Warshipstats.com will probably be one of the first iterations of this idea. Simple and stupid off the bat. Make it more complex as we go.

I hope you are on Reddit (Might post it on here too) because in a few weeks, I want to talk to the community about this. I want to be able to include a lot of other things in the number, like planes killed and hopefully spotted numbers/ damage. I would like to make ship classification modifiers so everything gets a standard number but then cruisers that shoot down planes, get a little bonus, destroyers get a little bonus for spotting more, Battleships get a little bonus for tanking(very experimental) and a few more modifiers. I think as a community we can come up with something better then WN8 for WoT. Something that helps people in this game and hopefully can teach them how to improve. I would love to work with a youtuber, like NoZoupForYou, to possibly create videos that would be linked in the app to help people up their score. I want this number to promote teamwork, not solo performance like WN8.

That's the biggest problem with the GPL. Have you looked at a BSD type license or perhaps something else still?

Can I ask why you are asking for something like this? Do you just want to see the code or something like it?

Nope, no interest at all. I'm a hardware guy, not software. Was just wondering if the reason was because the GPL would screw you over or because you just didn't really want to open source it regardless of the license and have your work ripped off.
