What are you going to do when everybody gets to tier 10.  People say it ruins matches but are they not easy xp and credit targets for you?  It's not like they won't be evenly distributed across both teams.

When everyone gets a tier 10 maybe we'll actually have some decent matchups instead of the strange lopsided matches. At least at tier 10 they're expensive to run so people can't be constantly running them unless they're good and have premium. If World of Tanks is anything to go by things will even out as more players get up to tier 9 and 10.

Sadly there will always be the Elitists who think the higher tiers are exclusively reserved for them.

The general public if things stay the way they are now will not be able to afford tier 9-10 do to repair and maintenance costs. The cost of maintaining a ship even when you win is insane at tier 9-10.

Personally I can't wait until more people get to tiers 8+.  At the moment you get some really strange matches at that level, especially at non peak hours.  Had a 5 on 5 and a 7 on 7 today.  5 on 5, played on islands of ice.  Weird match, and not one I'd care to see regularly.

Having easy bags of HP on your team is what sucks. With this game and its modes all it takes is a few derps on your team and the other team wins with 1000 pts 4 minutes into the match just because a few derpitz on your team decided to rush cap. At tiers 8-10 players expect team mates to carry their own ship weight in the match, not be a hindrance.

Everyone expects a lot of mistakes in tiers 1-4 ,for players to have a clue in tiers 5-7, and to actually know how to play in tiers 8-10.

Not a worry for me.

a) I do not plan to get past T8. The costs are ridiculous. I already see how I can get a loss even at my highest Tier (8).

b) As said above, when there are many players at T10, MM will be able to create better, more balanced, matches.

c) I do not care for elitists. If you are a good shot, and can do well in T0, more power to you. I prefer to mix it up and jump into T5-T8 on every other battle.

The matches wont be any less strange with 8 prem BB's on each team and a massive lemming train going to A on ice map every single match.

Buys premium to shorten grind to tier 10. Then complains when someone does the same thing, but better.

if someone wants to spend more cash to skkip to tier ten, good.

It's a Free to Play game, didn't you know Tier 10 is for those who are so awesome and have so much skill that the mere idea of you, the common pubbie, being in the same game as them is enough to cause them intestinal distress and end up going on an under educated, abbreviated spelling, degradation of the English language in order to make themselves their fictional screen name and Avatar look like they rekt you your fictional Screen Name and Avatar on the internet ?

1) Costs are reasonable with premium even at high tiers if you dont derp your ship early in the match. At low - mid tiers...with premium.... a player can press battle and go afk and STILL make a profit .....

2) Balanced matches at any tier is a farce..... MM cannot account for poor play. You could have 1 team of very good players all in Colorado's and another team of derps all in Yamato's and the Yammies would lose.

3) I havent seen many elitists here, just people who expect team mates to NOT act like they are in a solo console game when they join a TEAM for PvP.

It's like a high-profile nightclub. If you can't just walk in because you aren't somebody, you either have to slip the doorman a fifty, or throw on some coveralls and pretend to be delivering a crate of Patron through the back door. :)

The way I see it, the higher tiers are "off-limits" not because the players are hostile, but because the majority of people still haven't yet learned how to properly play the game, thus losing too many credits as a result of not being able to compete. The ones playing top tiers are those who can run highly expensive ships and still turn a profit on most of their matches. That can be attributed to a great deal of skill, a bit of premium and a bit of luck. When faced with players like those, as well as absurd repair and resupply costs, it's no surprise that the average player won't be hanging around those tiers for long.

Then they will just use doubloons.

There are 3196 people with the Tirpitz in NA.  That's 864 more than the Amagi and NC combined.  There are plenty that can afford it.

True.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating, and matches like that aren't fun for anyone on either team.

We have very different experiences at tier 10 apparently. The matches I get thrown into contain a much lower caliber of player. Beta male weaklings that are fearful of getting their paint scratched. They would rather cower behind an island than destroy ships and cap points. Add in the battleships that spam HE (not just the Derpitz) and people cruising around with their citadels more exposed than a flasher and you have a recipe for some rather pathetic performance. Tier 5-7 in random battles is where you can find the best players in my opinion.

Admittedly, I wrote my post with very little experience playing high tiers in mind. It was a theory more than anything else. I was under the impression that the vast majority of players haven't made their way up there yet.

Frankly many players will not even bother to go to tier 10 for a variety of reasons, but many because they are casual players and getting to tier 10 let alone running at tier 10 is expensive. As it is, my family and career commitments make me a more casual player than I want to be, but I just enjoy the game play more in the mid tiers in both WoT and probably will in WoWS as well. I will eventually get to tier 10 in my ships, but I'd rather enjoy the journey getting there than rush it.

Pretty much this is how it works.

By Tier 8, 9 and 10 you should know what the hell you are doing in your Ship class.

And if you don't, get the hell back to T6 where you belong until you know better.

For example, at this point you should know how to use a Battleship, and the do's and do not's. You should know how your favor of DDs work.

The lower and middling tiers exist for a reason, for you to get credits as well as experience in the role of your choice.

The snobbery will always be there that's just how F2p games are, one day clans will be implemented and the GreatSuperAwesome players can hopefully not have to play in dredges known as random.

It's an unfortunate fact of human nature that things that should be, rarely are. Cruisers that would rather spam HE shells at a full health battleship at their max range than erase a nearby destroyer with more target calling pings than a sonar operator with epilepsy is far too common. I have less than 40 matches in my Yamato but it is over a very spread out period of time and the results are always consistent. Des Moines players that become upset at me when I destroy them in a single salvo "BUT I HAVE THE FLAG!" (wasn't a detonation) and battleships that might as well just start the match in reverse for where they end up at the end. Also consider the most disturbing part of high tier play. A certain beasty of War has a tier 10 carrier. Skill is not a prerequisite for possession. The better players are very few and far between.

You'll never-ever-ever get a full tier 9/10 match because people cannot afford to play at the higher tiers.

With the Russian DD line coming in under two weeks, I doubt you'll see a Yamato period.

Hopefully that is what ranked will be and they will tighten up the entrance requirements.

Skill is not a prerequisite for possession.

This, I think, is the ultimate factor behind all our problems.
