DD players Dont you just hate it when....

You spend 5 minutes getting into a good position avoiding planes and other ships.

Line up a nice big fat juicy BB traveling in a straight line & maintaining speed.

Launch your torps with tight overlapping spreads to maximise damage.

Wait patiently watching them head dead on towards target.....

and then a squadron of Torp bombers comes in at the last minute and scares the BB off.

 

What frustrates you most about DD play?

I'm sitting in smoke, literally standing still, when a teammate Atago rams me for a full min, shoots out one of my turrets, then launches torps, that don't have time to arm, into my side

Sounds like fun. I hate seeing dds 25km away from tgt with 5k torps and launching anyway, right at me, a friendly. :-(

Having a CV player park his planes over me for 6 mins and only manage to shoot down 6 of them even when using the defensive fire ability.

When I try to sneak down a channel to get at the enemy and some moron cruiser driver decides to follow me. The enemy reacts to him and spoils my approach.

Aircraft that fly so close to me that they spot me for rapid firing cruisers to shoot, I can deal with the cruisers as long as their CV player doesn't set his aircraft to follow me around like a suckerfish.

I get a good spread off, then get spotted by a fighter squadron that appears instantaneously...

It gripes my [edited]when I've worked to get a good torp line using long range torps only to have a short range torp boat move into line of fire for an impossible shot.

Yup, having CV in a game will screw up DD's gameplay alot, even if the only CV alive is on your team, so many time i dropped a perfect torp just for a TB planes to come and change the BB direction.

It used to be detonations, then I started using the 100+ flags I'd built up to avoid them, so now it's modules being knocked out.  Seems like every hit I take knocks out some combination of my engine, rudder, and/or torpedo tubes, usually when I'm less than a second away from being able to launch the killing salvo.

The scariest thing I come across in my DD's are:

 

1. Atlanta Class Cruiser
2. American DD's because their guns are crazy fast and can do a lot of damage quickly against other DD's
3. Fighter Squadrons that shadow me

I hate it when I'm hiding on the corner of an island waiting for a target to come around and one of my teammates just passes by in the direction I'm about to fire my torpedoes. I also hate it when I'm doing that and enemy planes go flying over me...

I love it when I have no fire lanes because there are always planes in them as my teams CV flys his strike package around the end of the map trying to find a carrier that he wont sink. Just ff at 20 that man.

Many good responses, but this takes the cake for me. 

 

When you are playing a USN DD hunting an enemy IJN DDs who already out spot and out run you.  You find one, hit it 5-6 times, they shoot back, land one hit and you lose your propulsion (regardless of where shot landed on you).  Then they get away, you repair and then get murdered by their CAs because you lost all your speed. 

 

DD vs DD is so one sided on prop kill RNG.

I think the most frustrating thing for me is when a torpedo hits an already torpedoed part of the ship and does 0 damage.

When two enemy tier 9 CVs make it their personal mission in life to destroy you, keep you perma spotted, and spot all your torps as soon as they leave the tubes. Sooooo maddening. >

Wait till you get Gearing, gonna be worse, the moment a tier 9-10 CV spot you, he will make it his life goal to sink you, even if it take 6-8 TB runs and 10 mins of time wasting. You'll still end up winning the game because your BBs are unharmed but its gonna be very frustrating because you basically didn't play the game at all.

This is why I have no issue's with CV's doing this.

 

If they are wasting all their time on you. GOOD you are increasing the chances of winning the game. 

 

I know it means that you have no damage.. But in the end you are effectively wasting the time of one of the most powerful capital ships in the game... Just gotta make sure they don't kill you hehehe

Just don't go anywhere near your BB, cuz they attract flies. Sometime i will even went to a completely different direction of our BB due to the stream of planes coming to the head of the fleet. Asking ally CV nicely if they can lure enemies fighter away from you, or simple dont send their planes near you, especially TB, cuz those also attact flies-.- .Your own CV can screw u up more than the enemy CV sometime. Sigh.
