Destroyer thrills, a flame rekindled

Recently I took a break from WoWS, mainly do to tech issues (yeah 20 days premium wasted but w/e) but my interest was brought back at the announcement of RU DDs, I reminised the beta days where Gremy was my trusted partner and how we pillaged the seven seas, striking fear into all ships, and sinking even one Iowa, But I couldn't bring myself to click the battle button, It has been weeks if not months! Ever since post beta I have been much a cruiser player, am I still worthy of the Gremy? Am I already past my prime, and after been neglected for almost the entire Open Beta, will Gremy still accept me as her captain?

 

There was no use wondering, I shook my hesitation and dived into a game, Gremy, was still the beauty she was after all this time, everything came back to me, I went into combat guns blazing, It did not matter if they were Destroyers or Cruiser, or even Battleships or Carriers, because with her 130mm guns at my side, and the torpedoes, though the chances come in once a blue moon. We sunk ship after ship, it was as easy as fish swimming in water.

 

And how could I describe the thrill? gun fighting Destroyers at close range where one misstep will result in torpedoes taking you out in one hit.

Nice job! I dusted of the Isokaze today myself, had sat in port gathering dust for a month. Got my Minakaze and... sigh. Had a game where I left a Kongou at a coupla k HP with 5 torp hits. Lost that one with 50k damage. Next match my team was obliterated, I snuck in and capped. I got 200xp for my x2 because I did no damage but WON THE GAME. But I ain't frustrated, nope . Nah but really, DD's take a completely different set of skills than the other classes in my opinion. One of the big ones is more patience... which I have a short supply of.

 

Also, more importantly. Where did you get those ribbons?

Should just also be a destroyer appreciation thread in general too. I find a lot of fun with US destroyers being able to do a little of everything. And throwing shells over islands. And so much fun holding down the fire button and dance!
