The US cruisers are fine, but they are being trashed by the meta, which is why they aren't really that good.

Basically the OP got his hopes up by the Cleveland that is so hard to citadel, now he's in CA's that get hit in citadel easy, and he can't adapt.

"Meta" refers to the current conditions in a game and what types or objects can excel the most by using their strengths and negating their weaknesses in the most effective way.

what is "meta"?

 

"META" is a term used to describe how the game is played in terms of strategy or, a consistent strategy as to how most games go in order to win.

 

Right now that META is BBs hiding in the back of the map, poking people at their max range, while nobody pushes in because they are instantly focused.  CAs have an issue because they don't have the range to be effective at that engagement style, and are blasted out of the water as soon as they try to get close to the enemy BBs.  

 

Also the game has effectively removed CVs from 80% of the battles, so your AA ability to protect those BBs hiding in the back corner playing pot shot don't need you anymore to protect you from the planes. 

 

So essentially, the META that game has taken, CA's that are AA platforms (Pensi/NewO/Baltimore) are needless HP canon fodder for the BB happy later tier game.

 

EDIT for Editorial Purposes.

 

THE GAME IS BORING AT TIER 7+. ALL BBs, rarely any action unless you noob rush and die, no CVs to avoid, and as a result, invisible DD's torping you from 15 km with 700 torps which fill your driving lanes.. of course, you can't see those DD's because nobody is playing CV anymore to spot them.

Pensacola new orleans....

They need Performance Up.

 

That is My wish...

 

Keep in mind the higher tier Pensacola and New Orleans are more long distance fighters. The Cleveland has faster reload rate. That is the main thing people have to get use to. Once they are upgraded and people learn how to use them better they are fun ships to play.

I was asking serious questions though. I find Braincage's statements biased in the form of how he had full upgrades and full 19 point captains on those DDs.

I'm sorry, but no.

 

You do the same dpg with the Pensa as with the Omaha, two tiers below it. You do 7k more dpg with the Cleveland, one tier below it. And 12k more in the same tier Colorado BB (which was widely acknowledged as one of the worst ships in the game before the recent buffs).

 

People have got to stop trying to defend the Pensa and New Orleans by saying "everything is fine if you learn to adapt to a new playstyle!", when clearly this is not the case. The vast majority of players do better in their lower tier cruisers, and the top players are the same.

 

Cruisers in general are hurting in the high tiers, particularly USN cruisers.

Damage per game doesnt mean a whole lot, since cleveland, being a low velocity HE spammer, is going to farm damage off of battleships primarilly, whereas pensacola can actually nail dds/cruisers are medium ranges.

 

doing 20k damage to a cruiser is alot more meaningful than doing 20k damage to a battleship.

 

Ive always liked pensacola, its the most ijn-like of the us cruisers.

 

new orleans is pretty meh though, it needs a range increase i think. Starting at t8 cruisers really need to be able to reach out to 'around' 18km or so, since the game mostly takes place in excess of 15km.

 

Baltimore does its one trick very well, im neutral on that. of course DM needs some kind of buff. Though giving it a really good velocity/arc could easily make it overpowered, id prefer for its AA to just become an actual dps upgrade over baltimore as well as the range upgrade it currently enjoys, since even with its low velocity, when its in the ideal situations, its rate of fire does allow it to do some pretty ridiculous stuff.

 

But yeah, 8 and 10 definitely should get some buffs. 9 could absorb a gunnery buff and not become overpowered, even pensacola i guess could be buffed somehow, but id rather see its AA improved since it really does have a nice gunnery performance as far as 8 inch cruisers go.
