Appreciate how amazing these ships look?! I mean, WG gets allot of flak on the forums about ships being imbalanced and fix this fix that!! This game sux!! im leaving, goodbye!.. ect..

Im not here for gameplay folks, im not here for game balance. Im here because i am an absolute boatnerd! A history buff! And a guy who loves the aesthetics in life. (seriously i take a different route home from work everyday just to look at something new!)All that other stuff to me is just a bonus if its working well. Us warship lovers have had to put up with games like Battlestations Pacific, Pacific Storm and Subsim whos graphics SUCK!! At least compared to the ship models in game....

Seriously, instead of worrying about statpadding and yelling at noobs, take a few minutes to look real closely at the ships in your garage. Zoom way in, and you will see that WG has not even left out the tiniest of details, even things like ammo crates and First Aid kits are rendered here and there! We never had these little trinkets in any other warship game!

I highly recomend getting a full account on 3dgamemodels .com! its only 3 bucks and you can look at armor models, stats and in game models of any ship you like!

And seeing the light glimmer off of the ships and watch them slowly bob up and down in the water! ugh! Its just such an amazing game to jack off to... i mean play...i mean look at

I especially love spectator mode where i can stare at ships i dont have.. i mean... the Farragut may suck, but shes one good looking boat :great: And dont even get me started on the Tirpitz uuughhhh!! So curvy and magnificent, she demands respect! Heck i think all boats are good looking, and cant wait till they add more!

Then again i am a modeller, so tiny details are always important! If your gonna be a modeler, you have to be obsessed with how things look, that for sure. And the models in game make even an expert modeler like myself jealous!

Wargaming this one goes to your modeling department and crew :honoring:  :medal:

inb4 "How the ships look doesn't make up for it!!"

On a more serious note, stare at the Yamato with the premium port music.

Yes the ships look amazing if you have a rig strong enough to play on the higher settings.

Japanese cruisers man are the prettiest things.... :medal:

They are beautiful! just look at all the piping on their funnels! Yubari especially.. so.. so much detail! none of the other games had piping! now we have piping! hooray for piping on funnels!!

It's true. A bunch of pixels programmed by a bunch of Belarusians  has no aesthetic value to me. All I care about is how they play.

On the looks topic I can not recommend the big wave mod enuff.  It makes the seas look much more realistic.  There are still some bugs (map that name escapes me with the shadow grid i'm looking at you)  but over all it is a much need dose of movement...

I actually turned my ocean settings to medium after adding this mod to reduce the number of white caps to what I think looks more reasonable.  Soo I actually made my game look better (opinion) and gained some FPS as the bigger wave mod has no noticable effect on FPS and turning ocean settings down nets a FPS gain.

A little tweaking and this mod could be phenomenal (A little mist as my ship cuts through the waves, and some spray when waves hit.  A bit of randomness as the match progresses...start calm, roll it up a bit and so on)

As someone who lives on the Great lakes i can tell you the big waves mode does NOT look realistic! Ocean waves rise in large circular swells, not jagged random triangles. The waves rendered by big waves mod resembles lake chop closer than a north Atlantic Storm. (at least thats what ive gathered from the short video with the view from the deck rather than from up in the air)

I wish Wows had a full on spectator mode where we could watch matches without having to have, unfortunately, sank first. I'd find that to be a lot of fun! The ships in the game do look quite handsome and even the small details like the anti air guns are fun to look at.

OP, weren't you one of the people complaining that one of the KM cruisers didn't look right?

If your talking about that guy ranting about the admiral hipper... im the guy! ive modelled several Admiral Hippers, i knew it wasnt right the moment i saw the second hull. The good news is WG just hasnt finished the model yet, so it isnt intentional! They will use the new model for the second hull as soon as its ready. But if your reffering to that one guy who didnt like the K-class's offset rear turrets, im not him. Thats a different guy

You can be a spectator in Training rooms! or better yet set a bunch of bots on your team that are inactive, and sail up to them and compare sizes! .... I need to get a life....

I agree. I post screenshots I take after sinking (using cont+G to remove the HUD), on Deviant Art and they seem to be well received. Sometimes the ship I want to take a shot of gets sunk before I do, or my ship survives the match (I'm no Admiral Nelson, but it does happen), and I miss a shot of a test ship - there was a German cruiser in a match today I missed.

Go into zoom/sniper mode and turn off Hud, and point the view towards the ship you want to screenshot. they look very good and show the full detail model of the ship your looking at. I did this when i was in a battle with a Tirpitz before it went for sale!

This was never meant to simulate any kind of storm or even storm weather.  You actually put it best its making a rolling chop of sorts.

BUT having been out in the ocean past visible land this it is not a terribly bad representation of a slightly choppy ocean.

If you are seeing things that you are calling jagged triangles perhaps play with your ingame graphics settings a bit.

Have you been out on the ocean past visible land?

Again, im on the great lakes. Seeing a ship that dosnt look like this is rare. The boats are there to work, not look pretty.. warships are built to fight, not be rust and scratch free. The rust in game is realistic.

The US BBs would look better with their actual AA armaments.

Just saying :p

OP, I agree with you that the modelling is fantastic.  I am not nearly a fanatic, but I do appreciate the work they put into making these ships right.  It is always a work in progress and I look forward to more changes that make the game even more fun to play.  I often watch the entire match after I get killed, just to see what other players do (good and bad).  BTW, I think the USN ships look amazing.

all ships would look better with their actual AA armaments.. its not just US BB's... its fuso and kongo and nagato and kuma and tenryu and many more... its all about "balance" but they could at least render all the AA mounts and only have a "balanced amount" actually fire. We see this already in Tirpitz. the quad 20mm on the turret is a bogey guns.. its just there for looks
