so, how about a rethink of tier 1 and 2 ships?

so we have tier 1 cruisers, and we have the Mikasa tier 2 premium IJN battleship, and it makes me wanna see what ships would plug into those tiers for other nations.  everyone had some fairly significant pre dreadnought battleships that could be great fun to play.  we have several other pre-dreadnought era ships in game. so why not fill it out.

 

For the DD line make a few changes.. Tier one would be the original "Torpedo Boats"  which were some somewhat fast for the era, typically carried 2 to 4 torpedo's in fixed mounts, tiny crews, short range, and no place you would want to be in a storm!  Thats for Tier 1, for tier 2 bring in the first of the "Torpedo Boat Destroyers" which were slightly larger ships mounting fast firing deck guns specifically tasked with kill torpedo boats.  Some also mounted fixed torps also.  Most of them were admittedly utterly terrible ships and the 2 class types had disappeared for the most part by the end of the great war as far as any of the major powers were concerned.  

 

(how the IJN got so good at night battles...the IJN believed in operating it ships in close coordination with each other.. torpedo boats torps at the time only had a range of 2-4 Km at best, and the only way for those little ships to get close nuff to launch safely was to attack by night.  SO the IJN learned to fight at night!)

The IJN was so good at night battles because before WWII, they practiced a ton, especially the cruisers. It was all part of their dreams of a Decisive Battle.

I would LOVE to be able to play the old HMS Warrior (first RN Ironclad) in any kind of realistic or semi-realistic naval game.  She was immensely overpowered in her day when she was commissioned, and is quite a lovely ship.
