Took a look at the data for NA from warship stats.  Looking at the average number of games in the grindable ships, it shows pretty well what lines and ships people like and don't like.  Data is tier 4 and up.

• The most popular tier 10 ship is the Yamato
• The least popular tier 10 ship is the Des Moines
• The most popular line for people to play is USN BB

• Popular ships (120%+): Yamato, New Mexico, Minekaze, Midway, Cleveland
• Least liked ships (85%-): Des Moines, Ibuki, Baltimore, New Orleans, Furutaka , Hosho, Langley
• USN CA drops like a rock once you get past the Cleveland, going from the most popular class at its tree, to the least popular.
• USN  and IJN CVs start off slow and pick up as they get further down the line, with the tier 7s being the first ships above the average
• USN DD is poor throughout other than the Fletcher
• Looking at tier 8+, cruisers are the least played on average

I'm pretty much only playing my Iowa and Tirpitz right now. Have enough XP to get Montana but I'm not really too interested in getting wtfpwned by Yamatos all the time due to the Tier 10 BB balance being totally out of whack. Yamato eats Montanas all day, I really hope something is adjusted soon.

I find that strange, I'd assumed that the tier 10 IJN shimikaze would have been the number 1 tier 10.

Possible the population at tier 9 and 10 is just too low yet to be an accurate sample. Curious if stats are different for other servers. ????

 

Shows the problems with specific ships, and higher tier meta in general. Pretty much world of BBs and Midways in 9 and 10.

Anything above T7  is nothing more than sit back and snipe. if your ship can't shoot 20KM or  more, you are useless in the fight.   If you advance you get focused, if you sit back you get nothing.  Why play ?

Des Moines surprised me. I had one back in CBT. It was like a gamma irradiated Atlanta on steroids. I liked it. Did they nerf the gun arc and AA ability on it?

My favorite line to play so far.  People really don't know what they are missing, lol.

 

I've only gotten to tier VI (Farragut) and found the line very enjoyable, the more so the higher up the tree.  I thought it would peak at the Nicholas, but as productive as the Nicholas was, I've found even more success and enjoyment with the Farragut.  I honestly don't know why, I've just been able to consistently make it work.  Definitely requires a patient and opportunistic playstyle, tho.

The line I currently play the most is US BBs, followed by US Cruisers.  Okay, those are currently the only two lines I'm pursuing.

Very interesting, most seems about right when trying to guess what the community will do with this game and its trees. 

Farrugat :3...how interesting such a ship would be so disliked in some areas, I enjoyed it.

Interesting thing about the two new lines being added, they should be in the bottom half.  Russian DDs play more like USN DDs and German cruisers are, well, cruisers.  Though if you look at the meta the data supports, long range engagements (BB & CV) or stealth engagements (IJN DD), they might do well as German cruisers have range and Russian destroyers can fire while concealed currently, while both have shell trajectories that support that style of play.

This worries me that the inclusion of Russian DD's and their proposed strength of being able to dish out deck fire while cloaked *might* be a supposed counter to the obvious top heavy BB Meta of higher tiers. {shudders coldy}

 

Given how fast I beat down a Roon last night in my Mogami don't expect the German cruisers to change things much.
