Am I a Bad Person?

So in the past two days, I've seen two really bad fail divisions.  Both times I was in one of my tier 8 battleships.  Yesterday, it was a Katachi someone divisioned in.  It sailed off from the spawn fast.  Today, it was a South Carolina, as well as a Phoenix.  So I look over, and there's the South Carolina, right near me.  I'm in my Amagi, I've got all five turrets facing him, ten barrels loaded with AP pointed right at his citadel.  And to be honest, it's getting harder and harder to find a reason not to pull the trigger.  This was a tier 3 boat, who was divisioned in by a tier 8 boat (a Tirpitz whose exceeding stupidity cost us the game.  A YOLO rush when we were ahead on points with under a minute to go.  His death gave the enemy the lead and the win.)  Seriously, why shouldn't I take the shot?

I know I shouldn't TK, it's wrong and all that.  But what about these idiots?  They hurt the entire team.  That Tirpitz by bringing a tier 3 and a tier 4 put us at a 2 man disadvantage.  The game became 10 vs 12 in effect.  And why, so a few idiots can toss HE and get a big xp bonus for hurting boats so many tiers above them?  They screw the entire team and benefit for it.  So yeah, every time I see that fail division I look for the boat in question, I zoom in on her, I line up the shot and I ask myself, why shouldn't I blow her straight to hell?  It's harder and harder to find an answer...

This is something WG can easily fix by adding in a restriction that doesn't allow a major disparity in tiers of a division.

I know, yet they choose not to.  It runs through my head every time I line that shot up.  If WG won't fix this, maybe I should?

Kind of, you have some moral justification but TKing is never a good thing to do, also you kissed Shinji.

However, eventually TKing like this will lead to one of three things. TKers get banned more agressively, friendly fire is removed, or the divisions are bound by the same MM slots. It's a risky dice roll.

No, I wouldn't say you're a bad person. You made the right choice. Let WG deal with it. Keep things in perspective. This is a game. A tricky little computer generated image with us pulling some strings and giving us a feeling like we're doing something in naval warfare. It's not real life. It's not life and death. Its a game plain and simple.

It's incredibly rude for people who know how crippling it is for the team they're assigned to when they team up like that. If WG had a good set of moral values, they would first warn, then ban people who intentionally mismatched their team like that.

In my opinion, it's totally up to WG to fix the problem.

You were evil to the person you shot but were you a bad person? nah, you just sunk them instead of letting someone on the enemy team take the exp. Atleast that's how I view it.

I haven't fired on a fail division yet.  But I'm more and more tempted with everyone single one I see.

Oh then you're fine, still you shouldn't kiss Shinji (never dropping this joke)

I get urges to TK too, it's just those that act upon those urges.

If you TK a fail division (despite how much of a [edited]they are for doing it) You are playing right into their hands unfortunately. Wargaming in all its glory wants friends to be able to play together no matter what in order to bring in more moneys.

If you're in a domination game, kill em.

It is probable they won't contribute to your team at all, and if an enemy kills them they will gain points for enemy team and lose them for yours. Afaik, if you tk them you only lose points for your team. Enemy gains no points.

It could have been a mistake where the Tirpitz Capt. Hopped in the wrong boat maybe? Still TK'ing does no good either.

Let me follow the "logic" here - a fail division is on your team.

It ticks you off, as it hurts your team.  So your "solution" is to TK the low-tier ship....how does this help?

The automatic algorithm may lower your damage.  It costs you credits and XP.  It hurts the teams morale.  It's a few less guns firing at the enemy, even if it is a low tier ship.  It's one less target for the enemy - which sort of helps "snowshoe" their focus, allowing better ships better odds...  Tell me again how this "helps" your team, which you already view as handicapped?!

I've seen Chesters and St. Louis' in some of the higher tier matches I've been in. Unless they hang way back, the opposing team seems to target them pretty quick. I don't think we ever won in one of those matches, but it's nice that they draw fire away from me.

No.

Infact I applaud you for having the restraint.

The last time I had a fail division like that.

It was an Amagi bringing along a langley.

They even had the gall to try and justify this 30 percent winrate langley on the basis that he was "pro."

I snapped and executed the langley with my Midway and then myself.

So instead of getting a fair Midway vs Midway match.

It was Midway/langley  vs and Essex/Midway.

Catharsis and logic are often mutually exclusive....

I contemplate doing that, but I'm not willing to have somebody come crying to the forums that Sherman used an aim hack and one shotted him.

Because sometimes people ready up and didn't realize they had changed tiers. Add this with how sometimes MM can dump you instantly into a game before you can hit leave que and fix your mistake. This has happened a couple times with me and my friends, though not that big of a Tier difference. But still happens. Also if done on purpose or not don't sink them. They at east serve as distractions cause lots of people like to go for easy sinkings so, they'll fire at the T3 that can do nothing to them instead of you the T7 CA that's sailing near them allowing you to get more shots as they feel awesome for sinking a T3 in their T8 CA.

True you did well, but for future reference it seems just show him some pretty boy instead and he'll do whatever the boy tells him, even if that may possibly doom the world. Shinji is all about the boys apparently. lol:P

You did the right thing.  Don't shoot fail platoons, it's just a target that the enemy will waste time on.

Also, two T1 Cunningham 'fail platoon' examples.  T1 raced to a tiny bush on the west slope of Prok, deployed camo and binos and lit the whole side.  My Bishop and a Bert had a field day.  Missed Confederate by killing too many.  We won handily.

Drove up the coast road on Abbey in my ToGII and started to cap.  T1 arrived and also started capping.  I got reset 8 times, but the T1 managed to keep my ToGII between the resetters and her.  We won because of the fail platoon.

They may pull their weight.  Or they may die like the idiots they are, and would anyway if the were at high tiers.

I find it funny how in all the 'fail' platoon posts, people want to kill the low tier ship and not the high tier ship.
