like wthkind of strategy is that! I seen quite a few player decide to stand behind the mountain and shoot over it because other teammates were providing vision for them. it's such a annoying tactic because u can't see them while they can see u.

So standing behind mountain shoot isn't exploit, but border riding is? standing behind mountain shoot is an exploit just like border ridiing.

Teamwork = annoying tactic? Ok...

Their guns have very high firing arcs witch allows them to fire over high hills/small mountains where other ships couldn't, most USN DD's can do the same thing. The only thing you can do to protect yourself is get closer to that mountain or take evasive maneuvers

ya, its annoying and it and borders on abuse of game mechanics. just sail away out of range and force them out, then nail their citadel. the high trajectory of both also means long shell travel times, evade or even close to a range there they cant fire over any more.

I did this to a carrier in my Atlanta about a week ago.  Give me back my CBT trajectories so I can't do that anymore!

How would it be an abuse of game mechanics? That's like saying peeking around corners in WoT is an abuse of game mechanics...

It works. So why not use it? I've done it plenty of times. Just sitting there raining down HE from my Cleveland onto a fuso. As I was doing it, I thought to myself "man, if I was playing that fuso, id be pissed" but then I thought, if he were me, he would be doing the same damn thing. So it's a perfectly valid tactic.

this is the benefit of high arcs

you can shoot over stuff

but the downsides to high arcs is a MUCH longer flight time leading to worse accuracy.

and a MUCH worse AP round.

Its valid, but as usual for a WG title its a stupid mechanic. I can name so many more, disappearing tanks anyone, hell now boats are doing the same.

I think its ok ,, its a tactic for those boats, if your paying attention just get closer to the island so they cant hit you. or move away, witch ever is easier. I'm always looking at allies and enemy in the minimap so I can make right chose as to what to do .

I don't think its an abuse of mechanics, but i think a reduced accuracy would be a fair trade off if they don't have los from the observation decks unless they have a spotter plane nearby.

Why is it a stupid mechanic ?. You do know that erm boats ARE able to fire over things....right....and only ships that disappear are DD's. It just seems to me that yet another bang average player that doesn't know how a game works is whining about mechanics they refused to learn.

Yeah, this isn't an issue, it's playing smart.  If you are constantly being nailed by a Cleveland at 15+ km the issue is with your lack of dodging.  The travel times on those guns is insane.  It's not till the 10-12 km mark that they sort of normalize and even then they hang quite a bit.

It seems fair to me. Both ships have ridiculously high gun arcs - which makes it a pain to hit shots in many normal situations. Behind hills though both ships can be very effective.

If they took away the arc, both ships would likely actually be better because they'd have an easier time hitting their direct fire shots.

dont run in straight lines and its hard for cleveland to hit you due to that high arc

I disagree. Its not a stupid mechanic. If you think of it in terms of indirect fire, which is what it is. In real life, the Mk 19 fires 40mm grenades at the enemy. But if the enemy digs a hole and sits in the hole, we cant hit him? Wrong. The Mk 19 is capable of IDF (indirect fire) Raining down 40mm on the enemy position. Is this stupid? Or is it smart?
