Ahoy!

Bismarck Sighted!

Some Music to set the mood.

For those who dont know the Bismarck, Launched in February 1939, the KMS Bismarck served as the pinnacle of German Naval Engineering. Weighing in at 41,700 t and 241 meters in length, and featuring 8 dual mounted 15 inch main cannons, she was designed with one purpose in mind, Challenging the might of the British Home fleet on the North Atlantic.

In the course of the warship's eight-month career under its sole commanding officer, Capt. Ernst Lindemann, KMS Bismarck conducted only one offensive operation, in May 1941, codenamed Rheinübung. Bismarck along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, was to break into the Atlantic Ocean and raid Allied shipping from North America to Great Britain. The two ships were detected several times off Scandinavia, and British naval units were deployed to block their route.

At the Battle of the Denmark StraitBismarck engaged and destroyed the battlecruiser HMS Hood, considered by the Home Fleet to be the pride of the Royal Navy, and forced the battleship HMS Prince of Wales to retreat; Bismarck was hit three times and suffered an oil leak from a ruptured tank. Relatively minor damage to the ship but nonetheless limiting her operational distance. The Prinz Eugen and the Bismarck then turned for Occupied France for repairs and refit.

Two days later, after a sea chase by the British cruisers Suffolk and Norfolk, Bismarck was once again detected by the British Surface fleet. The Royal Navy, launching an attack by air from the HMS Ark Royal Attacked the Bismarck with terribly obsolete Fairey Swordfish Biplane Torpedo bombers the one hit obtained by this strike proved to be the fatal blow, disabling the Bismarck's steering. The ship, now dead in the water, ordered the Prinz Eugen to make for France, while the Bismarck readied for battle. The following morning, Lütjens signalled headquarters at 21:40: "Ship unmanoeuvrable. We will fight to the last shell. Long live the Führer." The British Fleet under Tovey closed on the Bismarck Led by the the HMS King George V, and HMS Rodney, the fleet led a daring attack on the crippled but formidable Bismarck. Sailing close enough for secondary battery engagement. The Bismarck, outmatched and under bombardment from every angle ferociously fought even after her main batteries were put out of action.

Burning and all but inoperable, the Bismarck was then scuttled, with a huge loss of life. Experts estimate that the four British Battleships and Cruisers fired over 2800 shells at the Bismarck, with 400 finding direct hits, but were unable to sink the Pride of Germany by gunfire alone.

It's Bismarck, not Bismark.

Sorry, just had to point that out. Drives me to the edge of insanity when I see people spelling his name wrong.

See what I did there? :bajan:

So the Bismarck-class is going to get phased out as a whole just as premium vessels?

Or is this just the supertester thing where they give the line out as premiums so you don't have to work a lot? I think I saw the same thing with a supertester's in-game lineup with Soviet DDs.

Should it not be "HER" name wrong? ;)

Didn't the Germans refer to their ships a Him/He ?  I could be wrong,  or was that the Russians ?

Is she just going to be a Tirpitz without Torps? Any advantage to actually running it?

It won't cost you a cent in real currency.

It looks to be a premium, but that wouldn't make sense. It'll just be a regular BB for the German BB line. Tirpitz'll be the special one.

Germans referred to their warships as "him".

Also, OP, while I could care less... you may want to blot out the swastika in the flag OP... forum rules and all that.

You can tell who are the North Dakotans in this forum, we spell Bismarck correctly first time, every time. (Bismarck is the state Capitol.) :P

He's probably referring to Otto von Bismarck whom the ship is named after.

Yeah he's using the seeker's tech tree mod where the Bismarck's files are still there...

From what I gather Bismarck has three hulls, Tirpitz is the second hull (with no torps.) The third has a massive AA increase.

It will be a tech tree available ship, no premium so no worries. It's just a display thing. There are various times of it being shown as a premium and a regular ship, mote times as a premium so people get confused. Last time I recall seeing it as a regular ship was when a certain someone pulled it out in a stream (yeah I remember!) and almost accidentally used it.

correct you are sir. About the AA anyway. First hull is almost like the Myogi back in alpha and beta. No AA at all....

They both refer to ships in the masculine.
