However, I admit I sometimes prefer speed and concealment of the Kawachi, but in other situations I really enjoy the long firing range of South Carolina of (11.2 km) - which seems to be a lighter battleship in comparison with less main turrets, and a slower battleship with a really bad propulsion engine. I got out of both fast as they are slow and short ranged, getting to the slightly better T4. I liked the Myogi at the time, and still have the T4 Ishizuchi which I use to train my Kongo captain sometimes.

Its a good shop for what it is but just don't let DDs get close to you or your going to be sunk really quickly!

Yes it was nice to have those other turrets on the Kawachi for pesky destroyers that tried to sneak up behind me but I like the South Carolina so much I kept it. I have a Commadore on it and its my seal clubbing ship. I even enjoy it more when I end up in a tier 5 battle with it because i get ignored as they thing its not as dangrous. I normally get most of my kills with it in tier 5 battles. Use the rudder a lot support the team and keep an eye out for Destroyers.

I kept it as i moved on as well. Its fun when its used properly, hanging back and catching cruisers and BB's when they emerge from cover at near its max range. Most of the time, my opponents have no idea who is clubbing them as they look for the more capable ships first.

You have to get in close to cause damage, and with your size and relatively poor maneuverability, makes you a tempting target for DD torps. Yes, in theory having turrets on both sides makes it easier to fend off charging DDs, but IME the dispersion is so poor more often than not most or all of the shots miss and you can't kill the DD before it gets in close enough to launch torps on you at a range where evasion is near impossible. I did have some good games in her, mostly because most DD drivers at low tier are beginners and haven't really learned the art of the YOLO torp run yet. If there's an experienced DD player on the other side seal clubbing, you are meat. I don't love the South Carolina either, just dislike her slightly less than the Kawachi. The SoCal has just enough additional range to keep the battle at arm's length and not be at such a risk of getting torped. Big problem with her is that she's so slow, if misjudge the flow of battle and go the wrong direction, you can easily end up out of position and unable to participate in the battle for several minutes. Really, if I want to enjoy some Battleship-style play in a Tier III, my first choice would be the St. Louis. Edited April 11, 2016 by ForgMaxtor
