When did you KNOW you were getting better at this game?

For me it was when i was sailing in my NC and an atgo was within 8km and had just popped up from behind an island. without even thinking when i saw him show broadside my first instinct wasn't to shoot, but to do full reverse and full rudder. THEN i landed a citidel in him. The second salvo killed him. i would never had gotten the second salvo though if i handn't been watching his torp salvo swim safely past.

it was at this point that i KNEW i was getting decent at this game. I could instantly identify A) IJN Cruiser B) An IJN captains first instinct is to torp a BB. I then proceded to dodge 3 salvos from a Hatrshiru DD. That i ignored while a friendly chased him down, (they sunk each other) And i proceeded to sing an Amagi, and took a tirpitz down to 3/4 health b4 my HP bar gave out. 126k total damage.

When did u just KNOW u were getting better?

I watched a replay of a good game I had about a month before.  I knew even at the time I played the game that it went well because the enemy failed hard, so it isn't the fact that I did well that struck me, it was all the mistakes I made.  After just a month I was able to spot missed opportunities, less than optimal choices, unnecessary turns, wasted time, etc...

You don't notice your day to day growth, but if after a month you go back and watch a replay it becomes obvious.

Watching my win rate slowly climb from 45% to almost 50% now, it helps that warshipstats.com gives you a line graph if it's been tracking you for a while.

For me, it was when I was reliably able to take on Destroyers in my Kongou, and to reliably hit citadels from 21km away in her. In terms of Cruisers, its when I became capable of soloing BBs in Furutaka, for Destroyers, this was back in CBT when I was able to reliably hit with all 6 my torpedoes in Hatsuharu and sink any ship that came my way.

It was WAY easier to reliably hit all torpedoes back in CBT than it is now.

I made a post about 6 - 8 weeks ago stating that we are (most) all noobs to the game still. A few agreed, but caught a lot of heat for it.

Yes citadel locations are easy to understand compared to tank weak spots. But there is more to it than that and thinking that your as goid after 1000, 1500 matches as you will be after 5000 or 10,000 is denial.

I tend to survive longer, and do more damage. I think I am a decent player. Still have plenty of room for improvement.

When I started to fairly consistently top my team's results table. If I'm not in the top 3 on my team it was a bad match for me.

I thought I was good until MikeHuntz and DeprivedPickle wrecked me in a CV and BB respectively. I in turn learned a great deal average and am above average but not on their level. Still have to put more time in training room when aslains gets it to work again. It's nice being an above average player in high tier games, but it's an absolute blast being a Juggernaut in the lower tiers when you are bored.

It all comes down to being able to kill ships. Win fair fights. Escape unbalanced ones and always make the best of every situation.

Dont look at win rate. The win rate is dependent on team play and will vary according to the teams you get. Win rate is 95% out of your control and thus doesn't reflect your individual abilty. Instead, look at your main battery hit ratio, kill to death ratio and damage per game. If these are steadily going up, you're making progress.

I knew I was getting better shortly after watching iChase's how to aim video. I went from not really liking BBs to thinking they're one of the best classes in the game that I now really enjoy playing.

When a canadian unicum told his live stream that I was "pretty darn good" without me being around to hear it. My charts on warshipstats are still going uphill as well. So yes, I know I am getting better. Have I reached my final form? Probably not. :coin:

Seeing your own mistake during / right after the game.

My own "ah-ha" moment came when playing a Umikaze (seal clubbing I'll admit) and coming around an island into three DD's, two cruisers, and a South Carolina off in the background - surviving the resulting set-to, sinking four, and getting away to the east...
