21 EasternDragon_2014 Beta Testers 164 posts 1,543 battles Report post #1 Posted October 5, 2015 The battles on this map is often ridiculously boring. Two teams form up and go the opposite direction, or our team split and the enemy team grouped up. In those situations the battle is almost a total waste of time with almost no action, especially for slow ships.

When you convince the team to just lemming push into the enemy base directly, it actually becomes fun

But with this map the goal is to CAP the enemy first while defending your CAP. If your team plays with this in mind, the game can be very dinamic and fun. But if not, ya it can be a long slow game. Not all the battles on this map are bad, but about half of them are. When both teams play a balanced tactic things work, but when one or both of the teams go heavy on one side, things turn totally disgusting.
19 KD2 Members 95 posts 6,105 battles Report post #8 Posted October 5, 2015 this has to be my favorite map, had some truly epic battles. about a week or so ago our entire team went east except for me in my NY and couple of cruisers. Our main fleet hit stiff resistance, while the 3 of us tore up the middle. We caught them completly off guard. We killed two instantly, sowing fear and confusion through the rest of the enemy fleet. In short order they where decimated, only losing a couple on our team.

I will admit that if I had a match on ocean several times in a row, I would not be happy. But I like ocean because it is different. Like a breath of fresh air and something out of the ordinary that demands a unique play style. Edited October 6, 2015 by Sir_Robert_Whitney
344 [WOLF4] LieutenantJebStewart Beta Testers 381 posts 26,318 battles Report post #10 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) At the start of battle on Two Brothers, when I'm in a CL/CA (and if I don't spawn on a flank).....I move up to whatever side of the gap I've spawned on, launch my scout plane, turn across the gap, slowing to half speed......and watch to see what develops. If nothing, then I continue on to the side I'm pointed at already. If no ship are in range at the end of the gap, I've still set up an AA screen for the time being (Smart CV captains scouting the gap will turn away when they spot me, not so smart ones....lose planes.). If a ship is running the gap, but I have no shot....I just turn away until they show up on my end of the gap, and they can't run. The Cleveland is the absolute BEST when using this technique, with her speed, arching shells, and killer AA. Only problem I ever have is dodging friendly DDs that seem to have the same idea, but don't have the killer AA or.....a scout plane.....to really pull it off. 424 [A-D-F] Xenomancers Members 2,309 posts 8,105 battles Report post #11 Posted October 6, 2015 It is a bad map. The best strategy on standard battle here is to not leave your spawn - this isn't fun. It's also hard to get anyone to work as a team on this map.

I really dont think I would hate them if the team spawned together. I love ocean btw. My biggest score in my Nicholas was on ocean.
52,538 [MAUS] LittleWhiteMouse Members 13,795 posts Report post #14 Posted October 6, 2015 I guess I'm in the minority in that I like Two Brothers and Ocean both. Two Brothers forces players to negotiate the use of two very different styles of islands on the eastern and western portions of the map. The side which makes best use of these islands for an aggressive play will typically win the day. When teams play defensively (which they so often do), it just bogs down into a long-range stalemate which is about as exciting as watching paint dry. This would probably be why I tend to prefer the eastern portion of the map for my Battleships and will drive right up the 7/8 line to aggressively push. This tends to drive back the battleships and cruisers lingering north of the triple-island cluster and allow our team to move up.Ocean forces fleet tactics more than any other map. The side that moves as a team, concentrating firepower wins. Everyone has their role and the fleet that makes the most of the strengths of their fleet composition wins. Playing selfishly to farm damage at the map border may score you some nice XP totals but it completely surrenders the initiative and so many games are lost by timidity. I love it.
