OK just saw a thread by a new player about should he sell his Tirpitz.  Not bashing the guy, but I'm gonna get this info out for if you're thinking about buying one, selling one etc.

Disclaimer: yes a certain troll will probably have something to say about how much money I've spent, but spam all ya like IDGAFrak.

Anyways.  When you buy a premium ship with coinage of the realm aka US Dollars etc, that's a special ship.  Once you buy it yes you have it, and it can do certain things like train any nation's captain regardless of what class of ship he drives.  Which is a handy feature so if you wanted to train all nations, you simply need 1 premium per line.

Now some premium ships like the Tirpitz have a historical value to a player so they buy them.  Now here's the catch. You pay in USD, but if you sell one, you get in game credits, not dubloons or equivalent dollar value.

Bigger catch. If you do sell in game there is only 2 ways to get it back. RESPEND the coinage of the realm, or do a long indepth process of sending in a trouble ticket, having enough credits in your back for what you sold it for and praying WG in their infinite wisdom gives it back.

So before you buy and or sell a premium ship ask yourself this.  Do you really need it, or really want it. If so and you got the cash, by all means do so.

But if you're going to sell it ask yourself this.  Are you going to want it back later. IF you have ANY doubts in your mind what so ever. DO NOT SELL.

Just a friendly piece of advice to newer players or anyone thinking about buying a premium ships.

Oh, it is NOT some long drawn out process to get a Premium Ship returned.

Took exactly 2 emails to get my Albany back. 1st to ask, 2nd to confirm. Roughly 72 hours including the weekend. Asked on Friday, received on Sunday.

WG probably expects, even encourages to an extent, newbies buying a ship way over their capabilities, then converting it to in game currency. Kinda nice of them to allow 4x/year getting the ship back.

Try typing and speaking like a human being. This isn't cellphone craptastic texting.

And FYI you actually can get away with that for captain retraining. You can stick a BB IJN captain in the Yubari and he'll function at full capacity.

So what I said was true. And you call me ignorant? Look in the mirror.

Space, why would you attack Talon for what was a very helpful post for new players.  Just a simple note to amend the original was needed.  Instead you insult the guy?

Good helpful post.

It must also be pointed out in addition to the captain training that premium ships get a slight bonus on the amount of credits, exp, and free exp they recieve in a match. It's not much, but in the grand scheme of things it makes the grind a little bit easier

All true. I had sold the Albany early on when I did not like it (it was a free ship) and I needed the slot (it was a free slot after all). Then I learned you can use premium ships for captain training (this was long ago).

I filed a ticket and it took a day for them to respond and confirm it was doable if I had the free slot and the credits required (I did). The next day I got the Albany back.

Note: These "exception" tickets are granted up to 4 times a year I understand.

I would not sell a premium I paid for. That, as you put it, does not make sense, when you paid real money for it.

Talon is speaking from experience from what we've seen in World of Tanks over the years.  Getting premium vehicles back isn't always easy.  There are requirements, first of all (equivalent currency on your account).  And then there are all of the undisclosed potential limitations on Wargaming's end.

Don't sell premium ships.  Just don't.  In my years of playing Wargaming products, I can't tell you the number of times I've had people lament selling them.

I sometimes get sellers remorse selling regular ships, no way I'd ever sell one of my premiums. Good post, good advice.
