Has WoT, WoWS, WoWP made some sort of real life difference in your life?

Perhaps the games helped you get through a tough time, led to you making lasting friendships, or piked an interest in tanks, ships or planes?

In my case it was playing WoT led to me meeting my now spouse. We met through a common friend who I had been platooning  with since WoT was in Beta and one night he asked me if I minded if another friend of his joined us in a platoon.

Well, we hit it off right away as we had a lot of common interest, and one thing led to another and after about 4.5 years of dating we were married in late July.

We play WoWS pretty much every night an hour or so now having stopped playing tanks. It will always be a special game to me though.

So what are your stories of good things to come from WG Games?

Actually my interest in tanks precedes me playing a tank game.

My interest has somewhat paid off. Not in monetary terms.

I learned a lot about these ships since playing, mostly by reading on the forum. Unlike many though, I am not planning to learn the ships specs by heart, a lot of respect for those that do. On a less positive note, this game has also made me procrastinate some important things in my life, but I am trying my best in decreasing time spend on the game to a more acceptable amount. :D

So u also quit tanks. May i ask why?

If you were addressing me, after over 4 years of playing it we just got bored with it and decided to play shippies.

I think I played close to 9 or 10k  battles in tanks ...

The list is too long to write/type. But I can say it did change my life for both better and for worse over the 5 years I've been playing.:)

I still play tanks, but am enjoying the heck out of running ships. Any game based at sea I have always loved. My entire room is filled with seafaring stuff. Plus..... I don't have a life, being retired, lol.

Can't say that this or any game has impacted my life except for tabletop games where you met people face to face.

Congrats man, that's a cool story!

For me, WOT on Xbox 360 got me into F2P games and grew my interest in WW2 a bit more. Other than the recreation aspect, about the only real world impact was making me aware of Tankfest Northwest which I went to this year and was awesome.

Wow, congrats! :great:

Gotta say, I'm more than a little envious.  That sounds like a dream come true for a single, awkward around the ladies gamer like myself.  Nothing better than meeting your soul mate while engaging in a hobby you both enjoy.  You even get to be one of lucky the few among us whose spouse actually enjoys playing with them, instead of nagging them to do something else like I'm sure most do.

Anyway, I would say that WoWS has had a mostly positive effect on my life.  I've always been sort of a casual naval history buff, so I jumped at the chance to play this game and followed its progress until I was able to buy my way into the beta back in April.  While the gameplay isn't exactly a historical reenactment, the level of detail in the models makes it fun to really delve into the nitty gritty of ship design in a way that I never could with the likes of the Battlestations series.

I would also say that joining a clan (FOG) has improved my social life somewhat.  It's great to talk with like-minded people on Teamspeak, since none of my IRL friends share this interest.  I regret not being able to get on more often, but have been dealing with some chronic internet issues that make playing somewhat of a chore until they get resolved.  Once that gets sorted out I look forward to talking with my clan mates on a more regular basis.  I don't realistically expect to meet a romantic partner through this like in the OP's case, but one can never have too many friends!

It makes me stay up later than I should, wrecking my sleep schedule.

It's destroyed my sleep schedule but I have got to command in a basic sense some of the great ships of history. Whether it's sneaking around in a DD fighting impossible odds and winning or brawling in cruisers its been a lot of fun. One of the few multiplayer games I actually still play.

Got me to shell out a crap load of money over the years in premium tanks, extra slots, and premium time.

Yeah, that was me too. Most the basics (Hull Down, Angle your armor) I kinda knew right away.

This game has lead me to spending ENTIRELY to much money. lol

Same with WTGF.

Instead of spending money on heroin, alcohol and cheap women, I spend it on WoT.

I used to hate history but I've always had a ship fetish. WoWs sparked a niche interest in history and actually motivated me to start streaming on Twitch.

The toxic chat, TKing, griefing, etc. tends to make me a much angrier person according to my family.

My wife hates it when she sees me playing these games.

It's made me a better techie. I got a video card for my computer so the game would look better. It wasn't compatible with the computer I had. I decided to just make a new computer instead of sending the video card back. I built a decent game machine. It was a great feeling of accomplishment. Wouldn't have done it if not for this game.

Tanks and Warships has helped encourage me into learning about the vehicular side of WWII history. Tanks are now my predominant interest in the history and I have learned a lot about naval history from reading up in anticipation of Warships. War Thunder is what brought me into learning the aviation side.
