1. There is option on wg site to rename your captain, however it requires gold and not doubloons?

 

2. Is there away to select some kind if option to have other players names or ship types over there ships in game?

2. Press left alt in game or go to the third tab in options I think and check the box with the confusing description of alternative gui scheme.

Or in game hit left alt and numberlock enter then enter again.  Something like that.  For the other temporary option.

I just hit alt I dislike neon red on my screen.

as for 1) No....... the only way to rename ship captains is to follow the link under my signature... it will show you how to access the file you need to change, then you would have to find the first and last name of your captain and change them to what you want

Not sure if I fully understand, but that only works for ship captains, not player names.

I wasnt sure what he was asking but he said "captains" so i assumed ship captains.. you think he was talking about his user name?

Yeah, you need gold to rename your player name, and you can't rename your captains on the WG site.

If you mean you want to change your user name then it will cost gold.     Like 2,500 I think.                Maybe Im misunderstanding what you mean.

Not saying your were wrong simply wanted to reinforce it for the OP as I initially made that mistake myself.
