43*C. 109*F.

Google says stay away from 45-50.

This is unsatisfactory. I need more options. Fan speed is as fast as it can get, which is good, but I am aiming for 35-40 at regular, with 50 at max. Apparently I need a better cooler...

Thats about right in a less than optimal case with the stock cooler when i ran my 4790k on the stock cooler for a week with the fan controlled by the board the temps were between 40-50c once i got the new cooler on temps dropped to 30-40 with much slower fan speed.

Try as someone else pointed out in the other thread to temporarily have a desk fan pointed into the opened side of your case, if that dramatically alters things a better case or a better designed air path through your case is needed. if it doesnt work then a better heatsink is needed.

Is that 43c at load or idle? Because 43c isn't really that hot.

My i5 4690k gets to 52c or so  with a cooler master hyper 212 evo on it after running prime 95 for a while. (not overclocked) For a stock cooler 43 isn't terrible unless thats with the processor at idle.

Edit: To be honest I don't really get concerned about processor temperatures until around 80-90 at load. as long as you arnt pushing those numbers it should be fine.

Second Edit:

"Here's the normal operating range for Core temperature:
80C Hot (100% Load)
75C Warm
70C Warm (Heavy Load)
60C Norm
50C Norm (Medium Load)
40C Norm
30C Cool (Idle)
Core temperatures in the mid 70's are safe.
Your highest temperatures will occur when running test utilities. Temperatures are typically lower during real-world everyday workloads such as processor intensive applications or gaming."

43C is really good on load.  the number you want to avoid is over 80 C under load.

lol my core i3 idles at 25c (75f)        My kids old phenom black edition quad core idles at about 45c

Pretty typical for the amd cpus to run higher, they use more power.

my GPU gets up to 75 degrees under load man (I've seen it max out at 84 degrees, it's set to power off at 85), 50 is really low, even for CPU

43c at idle does sound a wee bit high, but the max temp under stress is what I would be more concerned with.  If you can stress it using some sort of benchmark utility (the Intel Extreme tuning utility is a good one - link below) and provide your precise configuration, I think you can count on some insight and recommendations from people who regularly build their own (including me).

I idle at 27-28c, and most of the year max temp is 43c with a shut down at 63c.  Worse it gets in high summer is 50C, with the overclock still high.

There is a reason why people get aftermarket chillers.

At that price I would just go a bit higher and get a water cooler.

Edit: specifically, this one: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Performance-Liquid-Cooler-CW-9060021-WW/dp/B00SV7IEJI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444013696&sr=8-1&keywords=h100i

I have a friend who uses the fan i posted for running a server.  And it stays cool. That is probably one of the best fans to use for cooling without resorting to any liquids.

Oh I don't doubt that it is a good cooler, just at that price I would go for watercooling.

You live in texas might be smart to go under water, it would certainly give you the option to overclock with far less worry and hassle when that time comes to squeeze her for all she's worth.

When my house ambient is 65F my PC will run a good few degrees colder than it does at 75F  I actually have to reduce my overclock in high summer.

I got my main rig underwater. She does fine, but there's no need to overclock a 970 like that, for what I play.

I was referring to the chip not the GPU.  Yes I underclock my GPU also to save on power and heat.  My CPU is the bottleneck now so I crank that usually.

If you are planning on temps of 35-40 and 50 maxed out ? and you want to do this on "AIR" . I do not thin that is possible and you will need to go to liquid cooling to get to thoughts temps. I run a liquid cooled 3930k@5.0@1.4V EVGA X79 DARK, 16G C2400@9,10,10,29T2">PC2400@9,10,10,29T2 ,Corsair 1200W for 4 years and I run 30C idle or 45C gaming. I also have 2 EVGA 580 classified 976/2450 core/memory in SLI set-up and everything is liquid cooled. I can run as cool as -10C with the phase-change  liquid heat exchanger hooked up which I do for the summer but I can run as cold as it gets in the winter so I save $40 a month.

2 x pumps 360GPH, 1/2in tubing, CPU has  EK-Supremacy nickel block, vid cards have XSPC full coverage blocks. >pump/cpu/rad:3x120:front/pump/vid/vid/rad:rear:2x120 /rad:top:2x120> to get the temps you want.

My storage is a SSD RAID and PCI-e(2.0) X16 1TB  card that is in a RAID format 4.2-6.3 GB/s

Your target temps are exactly in the range of my system.  However the max of 50 is only achieved after more than 4 minutes of stress testing using Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility (Ambient temp 66F).  I seriously doubt I would ever achieve that running a game like WoWs.

My system is based on an Intel 4590K overclocked to (don't laugh) 3.9Ghz and it is rock stable.  I do have a very carefully thought out case with positive air pressure cooling (so all the intake air is routed through my filtered intake ports, and I use a basic closed-loop liquid cooling solution.  Liquid cooling has come a long way in the last 2 years, check it out.
