In any bb tho, you can be aiming perfectly and still have all your shells straddle a broadside enemy ship. Add to it 30 second reload times and it's more likely that you'll be dead before you finish reloading. Every once in a while a single shell will go where it was supposed to, and you'll magazine someone. Doesn't happen nearly enough tho. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I have one salvo'd a few cruisers, the new mex will be a ship I hold onto, I did pretty well in the new York too! Just trying to get that middle turret is fire is annoying, I nicknamed it the executioner. Oftentimes I would salvo with all the other ones then turn and fire that middle turret for the killing shot. I'm averaging over 46k damage a game and even had a 100k+ damage game. It's only real downside is its speed. A few games I did hardly any damage mostly because I couldn't get into the fight fast enough. If you can afford it, I highly recommend getting the upgrade that gives a 16% increase to your main guns. 8 [J4F] pag1107 Members 96 posts 4,850 battles Report post #8 Posted October 23, 2015 Biggest gripe I have about the New York is that you really have to angle and close to brawling range to be effective, and that opens you up to long-range HE spam from cruisers, which seem to start big fires with single hits. I love what her guns can do when you get close and how well her belt armor holds up against flat shots, I just get really bored having to hang back and hide for the first half of a battle so I don't get torched by two or three CLs or my soft deck armor exploited by a Kongo from 20 km out. Ultimately, I still end up sinking them in my Kongou (I have never lost in a 1v1 against a New York while playing my Kongou.), but some of the guys I have seen have left my Kongou crippled when we fought. New York is great when used effectively, but she's a better Cruiser Crusher than Kongou, which makes for a great anti-ship platform when sniping from over 20km away. I have yet to find alot of USN BBs that can snipe me, and whack me from over 15km away as easily as some people make it look. (I'm concious of here I am going, making it easier for me to dodge incoming fir e the moment I see it fired.) Overall, nice battles in your New York there.
