Is there something I'm doing wrong here?? Advice please.

I'm not that high up yet, so I'll just sit back and watch the fireworks.

I played it before the Open Beta wipe and it is a terrible choice of ship based on artillery and dispersion. If you are one of those close range (10.0 km) then this might be your ship. Effective ranges of all battleships is usually 10.0 km.

One thing you have to remember about the Colorado is that she is a pure brawler versus the New Mexico who is more of a hybrid considering the New Mexico can score reliable hits at range; however, when you hit an enemy ship with a Colorado, you are going to do far more damage, and can even score two citadel hits with one shell(not exactly sure why though). Furthermore, if you have a tier 6/7/8 carrier, they are more likely to go after a New Mexico than a Colorado as the New Mexico's AA while being sufficient is inferior to that of the Colorado. 708 [-REK-] HooplaJones Beta Testers, In AlfaTesters 869 posts Report post #8 Posted October 6, 2015 The Colorado does not "suck" but it plays differently than a NM. As you get higher in the tiers, coordinated game play is much more of a factor. With each ship you have to learn the nuances of the game play for that particular ship. While there are some similarities with BB's they do play differently. For example the turning ability of the Colorado is better than a NM, while in my destroyer I will attack a NM vs a Colorado every time. Getting your Captain Skills to compliment a ship will help you. I have had reasonable success with my Colorado, I am not claiming I have it set up correctly, here is my build out: Captain Level 1: Artillery, Secondary Armament, (1)Ship Survivability Level 2: Expert Marksman Level 3: High Alert Level 4: nothing yet.... I will respec once I get 2 more points and get into the 4th tier, Ill keep level 1 Ship Survivability and get Advanced Firing Training I researched all modules but have not purchased the last hull, as the last one gives more AA, but I have not see too many CV's and use the Catapult Fighter. Consumables Damage Control Party 1 Repair Party 1 Catapult Fighter you can use this more in a match than the scout plane. Upgrades Main Battery Mod 1 Gun Fire Control System Mod 1 +16% range Damage Control System Mod 1 Damage Control System Mod 2 I welcome suggestions

The most success ive had with the ship is not shooting at maximum range but a happy medium between furthest and medium. Stay with the larger group and just damage full health targets or broadsides (colorado can really [edited]up them broadsiders), or targets of opportunity. Never try to get the kill as it will only lead to frustration because that dispersion is bad. anyone with a narrow profile will never be hit by you. ive also noticed (maybe just rng luck) that if i fire one turret at a time (like you see people doing with the atlantas) the dispersion is actually quite good and its an accurate ship. the New Mexico is better all around imo though. If anyone has I would be surprised... I play them differently, so that could be why. When I was in the New Mexico, I would always lead the charge into hostile infested waters whereas in the Colorado, I support New Mexico's doing that with main battery fire, and AA support. I keep saying it and will I took down a Yamato with it at under 10 KM. Its a really good ship at close range but watch out for destroyers. Make sure you update the Secondaries if you want to brawl with it. Its secondaries have really good range and its got lots of them.

Since the recent buff, Colorado is a beast. I tried it during CBT and again in OBT until I free exp'd past it. With the buff, I bought it back to give it a try. If this stays without being reverted, Colorado is a keeper. Only drawbacks now are short range and low hps. Guns are much more accurate; good, if not great, armor, good turning (but slow). I highly recommend shelling out the 45,000 credits (NOT the 30 doubloons - you can switch to credits on the little down arrow by the gold '15' in case you weren't aware) for DCP 2/RP 2 for any battleship in any tier. The reduced cool down that gets you can often be well worth it. I get that this can make credit grinds longer in lower tiers, but tanking is a primary function of a battleship and these two consumables help in that respect quite a bit.
