I have been cheating on you...Well - only because the game forces me too. How else am I supposed to train my Fletcher captain? That's right - I got me Fletcher! woot! I'm not sure I want to play it though - pretty sure my win rate will drop significantly if I do. Who am I kidding - I am gonna play it hardcore - only after I grind another 60 or so more games on my Atlanta...That's right - I got an Atalanta. I've been shooting my poor helpless brethren to death in this thing - It's hard to remember a game in Atlanta where I didn't kill a DD. I almost feel bad for them - except they should know better to even come near this ship. I guess I'm happy to teach them that lesson - properly.

 

I hope to be driving the Fletcher soon. Until then I will continue to make huge coin doing huge damage in ships that can actually kills things.

I've been cheating on the IJN DD line with the IJN CA line.  Kind of enjoying not being completely persecuted.  Hopped into Hatsuharu for a game yesterday and once spotted, couldn't break contact.  Had a Sims, Mutsuki, and 2 Atlantas chase me for nearly 3 minutes while the rest of my team popped popcorn.  

 

Reminded me why I have a very love/hate relationship with the DD class.

The DD style of play varies depending on what the enemy has in play esp when you are on the team with fewer of them. I will be using the Sims and Atlanta for all my retraining just so I can keep my edge.

I too, am an Atlanta defector. That gunboat is just plain fun, watching those not stop rainbows of fire never gets old. And yes, I actively hunt DDs. I almost feel bad sometimes, considering how easy it is to kill them. 

But then again, I don't, given how many times Atlantas have gone after me in my DDs.

have you seen the upgrade cost of those 10 km torps? Like 36k exp jsut for the torps - still gotta get the 30k hull too!

I think there are 2 types of atlanta players - those who got the atlanta because it looks like a fun ship (these guys can't hit anything) then theres the destroyer players that use atlanta because they have a high level destroyer captain! these ones get 300 hits a game muahhaha.

I'm moving towards being a more balanced captain. After finishing my IJN DD grind, I started some new ones with some interesting twists.

 

I'm gunning for the US CVs, and have the Langley. The captain is still being retrained on the Marblehead and Arkansas...he has 4 skills. I'm sorry for newbie CVs. It'll be funny if I can hit 7 fighters by the Ranger. The guy in the Wyoming now will unlock the New York, and then be ready to move on to the cruisers for when the CL split happens so I can also get an epic Worcester captain (Advanced Firing Training by tier 5 for the lols).

 

I'm also getting the IJN BBs going with a standard captain. 6 points and up to tier 3 skills on the Myogi.

 

My Benson grind is still in progress of course, and that Shimakaze captain still needs more skills.

Not to derail, but I just looked at your stats. Holy crap. Are you cheating? Your DD stats are so much better than mine that its kind of sad. How on EARTH did you average over 40k points of damage with the Benson? If you have any replays, I'd love to see them.

Hahal, i got accused of cheating by BB sometime in game, like shooting torp throught mountain etc. I should enable my replay, just too lazy to look up on how to do it. Dpg in the Benson would been higher if the torp was atleast 60 knots tho, torps speed is so important i cant stress it enough imo anyway.

 

What i do in the Benson apply to my Fletcher+ and all IJN DD, launch torp as close as possible, due to the Ben's concealment, i uselly launch at 7,2-7,5 kms at an 30-35° angles of the BB, it will only take 5.5 kms for torps to hit target, and it will be a perfect broadside hit.

 

With the Fletch, i drop at 6,5-7 kms (5,8kms concealment) and Fubuki at 6-6,5kms (5,5 kms concealment). One more extremely important thing is, if you can, wait till you see the BB's float plane, let it go away before dropping fish or it will spot your torps, float plane will give him a fault sens of security and he will barely maneouvre. Both those trick require patient, alot of it, also very risky getting that close, but with practice, it should give a good torp hit percentage.

 

I think most DD captain know about this? Its just that they might not be patient enough to execute it.
