It should've been the Iron Bottom Sound.

Not some hodge-podge tropical map that has nothing to do with the Solomon Islands besides being tropical.

It's better designed than older maps, but... it's not the Solomon Islands.

The map is too small, decent map for cruisers, good map for destroyers. Battleships get the short end of the stick to the massively exaggerated terrain that means they basically have to go to either end of the chain to even be able to do anything. Which is of course where the DDs wait.

So? Do you see any correlation between Strait and the Italian coast? Especially since i don't understand if she is supposed to represent the Messina Strait or the Ionian sea were Taranto is <.<

To the best of my knowledge, Strait is not presented as being anything close to an historical map, where as the Solomon Islands map is.  Thus, I agree with the OP.

The new Solomons map is just brutal no matter what class you play.  When I load in aboard Fuso, 70% of the map is already in my range bubble; it's THAT small.  There's very little strategy on this map other than "don't die".

That's kind of neat.  So if I send planes over to spot, can you shell their fleet carriers?

More than likely, yes.  Depends on starting position, but if I move up a bit, it's probable.

No the terrain elevation is too high for the Fuso's gun trajectory except to the corners of the map. Even the Cleveland's super arc clips the mountain tops.
