...but the typical WoT player base brought their nonsensical tactics to the water and just hide in the back of all the maps behind islands.  While I should have known better, there was a glimmer of hope that things would change and I would see crazy, intense fights.  But no.  Let's sit in the back and just snipe at max distance.  I'm just not understanding this.  I didn't understand it in WoT and don't understand it here.  Can someone explain the entertainment associated with sitting as far away as possible, maybe I'm missing something.

What you're missing is Division mates, I think.

I'm not sure it's fair (what with so many online war games out there) to attribute this phenomenon to WoT alone.  While I'm sure WoWS is drawing a good deal of the player base from WG's other games, let's not forget that there's a decent chunk of the base for whom this is their first WG title.  If this 'play style' shows up in both WoT and WoWS, it's a pretty safe assumption these two games are not unique.

WoT and Wows are two different games. The play style of these are different too. If u look for some crazy game play, maybe u can try the CA line. Sit in back and snipe sounds like a play style for JP BBs...:coin:

WoT players in WoWs are easy kills. I love the whole "come to a complete stop and shoot" and "let's go full reverse".

That amazes me.  Half the time I over shoot them the first shot before I realize they are going backwards.  Guess they think they are clever but the second shot normally hits them since they are going so slow.  Also, what is the idea of stopping behind an island?

It is usually players that don't play BBs that make fun of stopping and backing up.

1) Pointing your nose at the enemy presents your armor

2) Pointing your nose means that if you stay under power you will sail into torps or broadsides from the enemy.

3) Backing up increases the time that your guns are pointing at the enemy.(30 sec reloads)

4) At high tiers you HAVE to stop and angle or DIE. The maps are not big enough for gigantic BBs to turn and dodge.

5) If you are broadside to anything at tier 8 or higher and going 20kts you are DEAD.

Yea, DDs will get you much closer. And, it will be intense because a lot of things can sneeze on you and sink you. Love playing DDs.:izmena:

You cant let the players of the game get you down, if you really hate playing with people that badly you could try pve maybe that will help. Find creative ways to use your teammates to your advantage and find some people to division with that think like you.

I play tanks, do you think I am an easy kill? A more reasonable statement would be "people that cant adapt are easy kills".

as a destroyer I usually circle back and pace a fatlady if it looks like its heading out for a fight....when enemy shows themselves i smoke the fatty then try and flank the enemy while they are busy... but when I run a battleship all anyone wants to do is hang out at the edge of some island....i want to go out for a fight that's why i'm playing....if i want to snipe, i'll play a FPS and sit on the side of the map.  and yes, WoT is played exactly the same way as this.

Backing up is a stupid technique.  I always target those people first and rack up a whole lot of easy hits on them.  But by all means. . . sit virtually still and make yourself easy meat for my guns.  I've never lost a duel against somebody using that technique.

I don't have a Tier 8 BB, but I fight plenty of Tier 8s and 9s using my tier 6 and 7s and do just fine.

Stopping or backing up in view of the enemy in a BB is universally pants-on-head stupid.

1) Pointing your stern at the enemy also presents your armor.

2) You can fit through torpedo walls and show just as thin a profile sailing away from the enemy, with the added bonus that their range to you is increasing.  And being under power, you'll be able to at least make slight course adjustments to throw off the enemy's aim.

3) Backing up increases the time that the enemies' guns are pointed at YOU - and they may have significantly lower reload times.

4) At all tiers you turn faster to your angle under power.  If you STOP, you CAN'T angle.

5) If you are broadside to anything, in ANY tier BB it should be because you are firing.  If you sail straight broadside to an enemy in any tier BB, you're asking to be killed.
