192 mattking2010 Members 328 posts Report post #1 Posted September 4, 2015 Checking back in after a few weeks. I see the population slide continues. Even worse, it's impacting the formerly 'reasonably stable' Russian servers, which have posted a near 50% loss in normal populations. SEA is essentially dead with 5,000 or so on during peak. NA has dropped significantly from 17,000-18,000 peak down to around 11,000-12,000 peak at best. Higher tiers aren't being filled anymore, and we are seeing 2 on 2 type of matches. With the recent backtracking on unification of accounts I don't think it's going to get better. I would be willing to bet a good number of people were waiting on the sidelines for their gold/experience to be available in the other games - that they invested into with the clear, direct statements from WG that unification would be comprehensive and with ALL titles. Has WG entered panic mode with a sudden 'it's launching in 2 weeks!' announcement despite quite a lot of open-beta testing needed? I assume the slide will continue for the next couple months and by the time the German tree is released the damage will already have been done - and they won't recover lost customers. I would be lying if I didn't admit that I feel WG actually deserves what is coming. The debacle of WOWP, and the way they've treated customers, and this recent lies about unification fiasco (that I consider consumer fraud) are probably destined to bring some karma forth. I'd be pretty cautious of spending any cash on WOWS at this point. You may find yourself with a bunch of fancy ships, and a population that can't sustain quality matches. Now with unification of their games effectively crushed you have no avenue to move your gold/experience to something better.

No. The decline started within a couple weeks of release, and has been a steady slope downward. First it was 'summer is here, people are on vacation'. Now it will transition to 'school started, people are studying'. Then it will move to 'It's winter, people are out sledding'. By the end of Sept I bet this game is under 8K pop during peak in NA, and probably less than 2K on sea. Give the % drops each week since it went OBT, 8K is a decent projection. People are realizing its a constant pay to play game, the way its set up. Once you reach t9 t10 the cost of repair is so high, you have to buy gold.. wether your good or not, you never get ahead in the end... not just this but many other factors... not many will play in the coming months, or even a year from now.. game is DOA

This game is infinitely more successful than World of Warplanes ever has been, and doing about twice as good as World of Tanks from the same time from what I have heard. Let's not forget: School is starting back up (My school has been back in session for three weeks now) Colleges and Universities are starting up, and with that hours on hours of homework (And add on time for sports) People who are teachers are going back to work People may have already finished their grinds to Tier 10 (Thus less incentive to play, since there hasn't been much new content, but there will soon be) No. The decline started within a couple weeks of release, and has been a steady slope downward. First it was 'summer is here, people are on vacation'. Now it will transition to 'school started, people are studying'. Then it will move to 'It's winter, people are out sledding'. Practically every game EVER has usually started out artificially high and then evened out as people decided they weren't interested in the genre, or found another game that tickled their fancy. School starting wouldn't cause a steady decline during the summer. However as to your latter point, even though the line of thinking is flawed that doesn't mean there won't be a seasonal drop at one of the times of year or other. The expensiveness of Tier 9 and 10 in World of Tanks totally killed it, riiiiiiight? riiiiiiight? Anyone? Hello? ok. Here's some food for thought. It costs 30k to repair a Tier 10 in WoT. 300k in WoWs. The average non-premium tank game in WoT nets me about 20k. In WoWS... 200k. Notice a trend? Seems like everything is scaled x10. SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP THAT YOU CAN'T GRIND CREDITS IN YOUR TIER 10. Hell to be totally honest, I am completely capable of netting 100k in my Ibuki in an less-than-average round in my Ibuki... So I don't know how it's sooooo hard to accumulate credits. Edited September 4, 2015 by WehrmachtPanzergrenadier

112 BlackBeard1987 Beta Testers 398 posts 2,828 battles Report post #21 Posted September 4, 2015 The thing is, the greater population of a game like this, is going to be children, or those who cant get out on their own... which does make for a ... well, you know what type of game.. Because those of us who have other things to pay for, or those of us smart enough to realize, we can spend $60 on a AAA game we can get unlimited playtime from, rather than a mediocre game like this where some of you may spend thousands on... 146 [DSRP] OhnoesFroz Beta Testers 748 posts 2,650 battles Report post #24 Posted September 4, 2015 It's constantly going to look like the population is in decline. That's just how it goes for these games. That's why so many games have daily login bonuses, and are moving to systems where the bonuses become better for consecutive days logged in. Like, they know this is what happens. It's completely normal and not a cause for alarm at all. Whether the WoWS daily bonus is interesting enough to keep people logging in until the next ship line is certainly debatable, but if it isn't retaining enough players it's an absolutely sure bet that they'll change it.
