Damn, that's cold. Also, that makes me wonder if IJN's ability to have more fighter squadrons hanging back in reserve will make them more effective at air superiority than USN now. Of course, if that were a thing I'm sure it would have come out from the public test.

The bad thing is that it hits allied planes as well. 

 

Adds some depth to the game.  Do you gamble or not sort of thing.

It is bugged. If you are halfway through your barrage and get caught by enemy's fighter squads, your fighter squad will just be bugged there for free frag.

That didn't look that great. You still lost a lot of fighters and that was possibly the single most ideal situation: he was locking multiple squads of planes in place for you to butcher. And that's an IJN CV with it's triple fighter squad. US gets 1-2 fighters, and you can't exactly afford to hit half your fighting force with the other.

I only lost 4 fighters to enemy fire. 2 others were teamkills. Trading 6 fighters for 5 bombers and 11 fighters from a numerical disadvantage is huge.

Well...

 

I'm glad you like the new ability.

 

Personally, I see this as a nerf, nothing more. I've traded in my (admittedly op) 3 bomber squads for 2 bombers and a useless fighter or two.

 

I know IJN cv's needed a nerf. I'm only upset because I was excited about this new fighter ability, and I expected it to be more useful than this...

I unlocked the Kongo while waiting for 4.1 to arrive. Two matches in, I said "Oh, yeah! Now I remember why my name used to be 'Battleship_SomethingorOther!'" Now, I think I might take the time to grind both lines to t10, eventually.

 

Multiclassing can be a good idea. It means when you get frustrated with one class, you can play something else :medal:

 

A nerf to one ship is a buff to another, after all!

 

...but, I don't plan to change my name again anytime soon. I changed it, like twice in 3 months :P

I tried playing both carriers alongside both battleship lines, but not far into tier 5 I just realized carriers weren't for me.

I learned that two bot matches with a Langley into Closed.

I only have a CV to kill planes.

I can kill enough with my tier 7 battleships for plane killing missions.  And with about 1 million more credit grinding one of those tier 7's will earn her retirement and a new girl will be joining my fleet.

Even if it worked correctly, the skill itself is rarely has a use. Multiple squads just aren't sitting there.

I've used it, but it's a rare case it's superior. So far the only time I can find it's useful is when you can see a pile of bombers coming in on your ship, you can turn such a way that they all line up for the appropriate angle (depending if TB or DB) and then you can strafe that attack angle. But as mentioned it's buggy, requires there be NO enemy fighters or catapult planes anywhere in the area, and the other CV pilot is incompetent or inattentive.

Used it a few times and I have to say the results have been extremely underwhelming.  Actually, it's kind of a stupid ability - if you can even call it that.  More like a liability.

 

Worst part is that if your opponent happens to move his aircraft out of the box, your guys just keep derping along in a straight line, firing into empty space for the next few seconds, and you have no control over them until they're done.  Really annoying.  God help you if the other guys fighters or one of the tractor beam scout planes are around...

 

Not using it anymore.

It works very well in limited situations, which as CV players learn the mechanic it will become just a punishing tool for new players.  The one time I got to use it the other driver sent in all his planes as a giant blob.  15 kills later it was just mop up.  It does have a use for the US line for sure, but only in limited situations.
