So did my IJN cruisers get nerfed?

Seems the IJN got nerfed for the most part other than the furry taco. Why? Were they that superior? I keep seeing the high dps rate of the USN to be of more concern than the slow shooing slow turrning IJN guns.

What am I missing here?

on paper USN cruisers seem superior, but let me tell you, that T8+ the IJN cruisers do a hell of a lot of effective damage. They also have very good torpedoes at that point. I'll take a Zao over a DM any day for pub stomping.

There's also the Myoukou which was a tier VIII that IIRC kept the same RoF.

So I am currently at the Aoba. You men say I am screwed till I get to to Tier 8?

The T7 Myoko is a solid ship, the grind to the Mogami is not unpleasant if you remember to angle and not give a BB your broadside (which is true of about any IJN ship).

not "screwed", they just actually get good T8+. Especially the Mogami and the Zao. Wasn't a huge fan of the Ibuki, but she can do some solid damage in the right hands.

It is a really solid line outside of Furutaka (getting buffed obviously) and Ibuki. The latter isn't terrible, just a slightly improved Mogami a tier higher.

The changes to IJN cruisers dont really concern me, they effectively just take away some of the flexibility.

Myoko, is still hands down the best cruiser prior to t10, because she has the best guns on any non t10. The 8 inch on mogami and ibuki are trash, and the 8 inch on US cruisers, while better, are not as good as myokos.

She has a lower rate of fire now, but she will still be the go to platform of choice when it comes to killing other cruisers in that tier range, because she can two-three volley them easily.

Mogami has her 155 traverse nerfed, but it shouldnt affect her too badly. With the skill she will have an effective 30/180 speed, compared to new orleans top turret with the skill having an effective 25/180 (6 degree sec on mogami vs about 7.2 degree sec on new orleans)

Its slower, sure, but its still faster than ibuki and zaos effective 31.6/180 (about 5.7 degree sec). Mogami plays a lot like zao anyway in how you move and position, and i dont often find myself doing the 'fire while turning through turret alignment' thing that maneuvering battleships do in zao, my guns are usualy on target unless im close range anyway, so theres really not a whole lot of an issue here.

Im not sure about the lower durability, but well just have to see. I feel like mogami doesn't lose turrets very often when doing her primary role of long range BB spam, and up close, while mogami AP can actually hurt enemy cruisers pretty well, at those ranges, im usually multiplying my odds by working torpedoes in there somehow anyway too.

The IJN line is still better in my opinion, but in the end its still just cruisers, you are better off grinding battleships.

I feel like this was some token nerfs that may come togeather with some USN buffs down the road, and hopefully some blanket high tier cruiser buffs (with extra focus on DM) at some point. Thats what would happen if the game was going to actually be balanced, but then this is WG we are talking about...

I personally enjoyed playing the Aoba much more than the Furutaka, which was not too long ago either. Even though it isn't as good as the Cleveland, it still is a good ship. Comparing it too the fury taco it's turrets still have a much better turning speed, and you only have to worry about moving three. On top of that the gun's rof is cut in half, and the ship is equipped with insanely better AA guns.

American cruisers are totally fine, gotta nerf them IJN cruisers.

Single Rapid-firing Atlanta burning a full health Colorado down in about 1 minute, 20 seconds through sheer weight of shells, note only one actual fire was set in the entire engagement.

It's only the tier 7 and 8 that are outperforming the US ones by a huge margin.. both tier 9 are doing bad in their tier, and both tier 10s are doing just worse than the carriers and battleships.
