yup, my go to ship for torpedo missions.

 

The credit rewards are bad, but some of the missions give 500 free experience, which is always useful.

You shouldn't do them but accomplish them in normal play and the rewards are really just a bonus.

I do have DD's...I just didn't feel like playing them tonight.

I also did earn a win in one...Zero torp hits...cause that's the life of DD's

...I just get them as that green ship of mine get torpedoes hit...Well, I used to play fighter-carriers back in Beta, so I couldn't care less about missions, and at some point it spewed all ship torps missions...

Three torp missions? You can do them all simultaneously and get a bunch of credits. What's no to love? Meantime I'm stuck with a mission where I'm supposed to kill 8 planes in 1 game. I'm in level 3-4 cruisers and destroyers, none of which have squat for AA, so the mission is basically impossible. Oh well...

I usually don't even bother with them most of the time.  I think last night was the first time I actually tried for one... I had all my doubles and couldn't figure out what to do next.  Saw I had 2 AA missions so I took the Pensacola out for another spin.

After I sold my Fubuki, I kept an isokaze for the torp missions.

Also, I'm not sure what you expected. As long as you have an open quest slot there's always a chance that it'll be filled with a torpedo mission. You let two stay in there and eventually the last slot was blocked.

Or IJN cruisers, Murmansk, or low tier cruisers like Kuma.

I got stuck with 3 torp missions at once. My cruisers weren't up to it. So, I got a Umikaze and knocked out all 3 missions in the first battle. I didn't care much for using DD's before this but now I think I'm hooked.

I had that once and felt similarly. While I would like an option to skip a mission and replace it with another one, the are only a few missions we get, deal various amounts of damage, kill planes, hit with torps. Haven't seen others beyond those. 

Best option is to forget they're there and just play, use destroyers (they are a lot of fun) and over the course of playing you'll get them.
