can not sell a ship

Please give us more detail on your problem. You can't help us with so much little detail.

My best guess is you have no spaces in your reserve, and are wanting to keep the commander. So either dismiss a commander in your reserve or dismiss the current commander.

Did you click on dismount or sell modules on your ship because you have to do either one to sell them.

If you have equipped upgrades to the ship, they must each be destroyed manually if you do not have the gold to dismount them or do not want to dismount them.

There's a reason there is a little arrow beside the word demount.  Try clicking some things some of the time and VOILA.. you can sell it along with the ship...

 

I actually had this problem. It wouldn't be too difficult for a new player to miss the arrow, and I bought Doubloons because I didn't see the option there. Only in the last few days, due to the Naval Academy - Dockyard video on the World of Warships YT channel, have I found out about the option to not demount.
