Fighters out of Ammo need to disengage

It's so frustrating that if your fighters are in a dogfight and run out of ammo they just sit there and keep taking hits.  It's one thing if his planes are faster, but if yours are they should be able to flee the fight.  As it stands you can't order them away until the other guy runs out of ammo so you're forced to just lose aircraft.  Very frustrating.

Yep.  Because of this I have sent them back early to reload meanwhile my team complain I am not helping.  I at least try to let them know I am reloading them.  Plus I like to pair my fighters up.  So take note.

These are strategies to offset some of the problems, but ones not always available to you.  This really shouldn't be a "feature" at all.

When a CA's Attack Plane has my Fighter plane engaged in this scenario, that's a real pain.

 

Yeah, that was the issue I was having. My fighters (out of ammo) wouldn't disengage and return to the carrier due to a spotting aircraft, and then the enemy fighters caught up and killed my entire flight.

Spotter aircraft have tractor beams.  They lock you in until they get bored and just let you go.

It's now worse with the air assault ability.  Fighters get stuck halfway through the attack, stop the attack, and won't shoot back because they're still in the mindset of doing the air assault.
