Funny the largest number of border scummers are CV players. Go figure anyway right.

Sooner or later (my guess is 3 - 5 years) WG will take that exploit away and they'll have to learn how to avoid fire without it.

Looks like you didn't read the patch notes: it's being fixed.

You are right, I didn't read the patch notes..........assumed (I know what happens when you do that) that this patch (if it ever deploys) was just to fix the CV balance in MM.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah....but you know CV's are so hard to play.

They ARE actually hard to play.

3-5 years? IF they fix it it will take them at least 10 years and 10000+ threads complaining about it for them to even care.

There's a reason I don't have one right now. It's because playing them has a continuous skill demand. You have to be good constantly. Every other class is more forgiving.

This is the reason I hardly ever complain about carriers. The skill it actually takes to sink a ship is really high compared to the other classes. After trying to play the Hosho this weekend I now see that.

Stop blaming everything in the game on CV.  Playing CV two days ago the border humpers were everywhere from DD to CA trying to avoid my Torps.  Everyone in this game does it at some point to try to survive.

Yeah, not just CVs. They do it but since they usually stay behind, you only notice it when most of their team is dead.

The weird thing is that, if you know where to aim, it's still easy to hit the CV players.  Their ships are wide, and long.  Plus they lose a lot of their speed advantage when scumming the border.  Since they can't "leave" the map, a portion of their velocity is "lost" by the vector leaving the map.  So you can move close the distance without the need to run a marathon.

Only those that work with torpedoes actually have a problem.

Yep, I pitied the poor Langley who tried to use the border to keep my Omaha from burning him to the waterline.  And he was decent at running his planes too.  Oh well.... salty CV tears are the best.

There is a fix for border exploding in the next patch, but how effective it is we will have to see.

Regretfully there is always people that will try to get any advantages over other players, no matter how lame. These are the same people that use seethroughwall mods in first person shooters and other hacks. All you can do is hope that with a firm stand against such behavior and some modifications to the software the exploits will be reduced.

I respect players that avoid the border, even in situation where it would give them the obvious advantages, and I feel sorry for players that exploit the edge, as they really have no clue what fair gamesmanship is all about.

The guy that manages to dodge and twist around my shells in the open water deserves my admiration, the guy exploiting the edge is just another pathetic player trying to boost his ego by exploits.

I have seen tier 8 and 9 battleship and cruiser captains do the same. and when challenged about it, they said it was the only way they can stay safe and kill people.

Hey using a game mechanic is a lot different the downloading a cheat mod.

Fill the borders of the maps with sea mines that detonate of you spend too much combined time throughout the match on the border. Say like 30seconds to a minute for the whole map as a grace period of you get stuck or something

Fixed it for you.

till a dev names something an exploit, the mechanic the dev created is considered working as intended. community cant claim whats not working as intended and label that an exploit without dev support

Technically, if it was working as intended they wouldn't be fixing it.

I don't see what the HUGE deal is really. As far as I've encountered it, when you miss your first shot that SHOULD hit, apply some Kentucky windage and fire again.

Or am I missing something?

Probably just missing the part that half your ship becomes invulnerable and it's almost impossible to tell how fast the ship is moving and it can easily change directions or turn a 180 in place. It is a huge deal and basically every player that can take advantage of it does take advantage of it if it is there. It's ultra lame.

Just the other game I TKed a BB on my team for doing it. Not because he was boarder scumming but because I was in a CA running solid with 2 BB until they decided to turn around and ride the boarder instead of heading to the cap.

I have 0 issues hitting someone that is border surfing, just adjust your aim a little there is even a guide for aiming at them known as the map edge.
